when grand children come to visit
 

it would be nice and also helpful to have a park to take them so they could run around and have fun and it would be something to do with them and their energy. are there any parks we can take our grand kids who are not in school yet. Surely there are other grand parents out there who would appreciate such an area.

How about the one in Lake Sumter Landing or outside of school hours the charter elementary school?

There are two parks I take my grandchildren to:

#1: Rogers Park at Venetian Gardens in Leesburg. This little park has the grandest wood play structure. Take 27/441 south to Hwy 44 (West Dixie Hwy) in Leesburg. Turn east (left). When you get to 9th Street, turn right (south). Watch closely or you will pass the Roger's Park sign on your left because it's a little itty bitty sign. Park next to the building, walk past the building to see the play structure behind it.

#2: Lady Lake Park @ 221 W Guava St. It's a little hard to locate so get on Mapquest or Google Maps to get directions. This park has a lot of play equipment and is a great place to take the grandchildren. Be advised to dress your kids in dark clothing because the rubber ground cover gets them a little black. Take along a wet rag to clean them up, also.

The children's playground south of LSL at the "headwaters" of the canal is a great place for preschoolers. When we were there last, it had nice safe things to climb on, a sand box and a nearby path through some nice plantings.
Also think about feeding dried bread scraps to the ducks in the pond at the entrance to the Glenview CC area.
