Scott Walker's Days Are Numbered

+Over one million signatures were delivered yesterday, nearly twice as many as needed, to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Say bye, bye Scott. Too bad FL law doesn't allow recalls, or we would be saying bye, bye Gov. Rick Scott.

Even with Rick Scott being a crooked and incompetent CEO, he has done some things as governor that I like.

His decision not to accept Federal money for a fast train between Orlando and Tampa was good. It would have been costly for Florida taxpayers and not done a lot of good for anyone.

He has actually sided with environmentalists in the protection of the Everglades.

Scott is not all good but certainly not one worth recalling like Nincompoop Walker of Wisconsin.

Dont know much about Gov Walker other than the unions contempt for him, but this thread sent me looking...

.....balanced the state budget without increasing taxes

.....increased the job growth in the state

.....froze property taxes

BUT you cant tick off the unions !!!!!!

All the national labor unions are pouring money into this movemen against the Governor.

I am curious what earned him, in your opinion, the "nincompoop" title ?

The people will keep walker

:):) Property taxes are down, unemployment is down, budget is forecast to have a surplus. The pocket book will defeat the public unions.

Gov Walker got in trouble with his constituents when he banned collective bargaining rights. If you recall, it was just a year ago that some of the legislators left the state rather than vote, and Madison was the scene of massive protests that went on for weeks.

The Lt Governor, Speaker of the House, and a handful of legislators are also subject to a recall vote along with Walker.

He DID NOT BAN collective bargaining EXCEPT and ONLY as regards the taxpayers money, ie. public service jobs and may I ask what the problem is with that, OR do you suggest everytime they negotiate a raise or whatever, that taxes just be raised. Can only imagine how long you would tolerate that if it was in your state. He did not ban raises or perks, and they absolutely beat most pay and perks out there today...simply said that the state will not be held hostage, or the taxpayers be held hostage.

Bucco and others should read the linked article here. It states that Ronald Reagan did not do away with collective bargaining for federal employees with his firing of air-traffic controllers (PATCO). Federal employees are forbidden to strike and that is why they got fired. Very interesting article.

Federal employees have collective bargaining rights. State employees should have those same rights.

Public education in the US

For what it's worth, just viewed documentary Waiting for Superman via Netflix Streaming. Great report about what this Nation's Public Education system has become. I think it speaks volumes about what has happened when education reformers go up against the system.

The problem is that he banned collective bargaining for public unions AFTER the unions offered to give him the concession he wanted.

That gave the public the perception that it was about power and not about money.

My stupidity forces me to ask why looking to the future and understanding what is happening is bad ??????

Wonder HOW that perception was nurtured ?
