Tip - carrying gate card in golf cart
With some of the longer gate arms, one must either push the button or use a gate card to get through in a golf cart (e.g. Largo gate, Bonita gate). But, where to put the gate card in your golf cart and have it readily accessible?
The retractable clips shown below work great....just need a thin surface to clip onto (overhead tray in my cart) and works like a charm. Walmart carries these in the office supply area near cameras. A six pack for about $4. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...tract_clip.jpg |
Isn't just pushing the button just as simple?

no....

I've been at gates when the person in front of me dropped their card both inside the car and some on the ground outside the car. |
Not sure why The Villages doesn't design some kind of sun pass attached to your windshield. No more opening your window on a rainy day or letting the cool air out of the car on one of the many HOT days we experience in Florida.

Or you can paint it the color of your drivers side mirror and permenantly attach it to the mirror. When you drive by the box, just be over to the left and it will pick up the card signal and open the gate. It is water proof so it will last for a long long time.

Another option for stashing your gate card:

must just be lucky me.....but the gate has opened just as fast when I push the button. I've tried both........oh well luck and timing..........

I am a button pusher myself. Seems like the easiest thing to do.

I have been using the pictured retractable badge clip for several years at work and found it to be very convenient. The badge itself is encased in a vinyl enclosure. I attach mine to my belt and don't have to worry about it, as it is always there.

When I am in my golf cart, it is very easy to drive next to the gate box and press the button. I don't have to have my gate card in the cart. If you lose the gate card - or if someone takes it from your cart - it is a $15 fee to replace.

I think the V-Pass is a great idea

I lived in a gated community down in Naples with a great system.
Bar coded sticker was placed on the passenger side rear window. As you approached the gate a scanner sensed the sticker and the gate opened. Here in TV the sticker could be placed on golf carts as well as cars, maybe bikes and motorcycles. No more searching for the card, rolling down the window, etc. Stickers are probably less expensive than the cards and you're not going to misplace something stuck to the side of your vehicle. |
I believe it is as easy to push a button. I have also seen carts follow a car or cart through.
Since we are not a gated community I like the idea of real people keep watch at some of these gates and also the photo taking |
