Where do you donate your unwanted items?

I have some bedding (king comfortor, pillow shams and brand new sheets). We are downsizing to queen sized beds.

Where is your favorite place to donate items like this? I also might have some small furniture too.

I went to the St. Timothy catholic church, but they don't have a thrift shop. Maybe another church in the area has a thrift shop?

LOVE, INC represents 29 local churches. A neighbor volunteers there and raves about the way they handle donations. Some are sold in the thrift store. In the event a very needy client comes in they help those people out without cost. All donations benefit the local community.

located at 16810 HWY 441 Suite 502 just over the hill past Walmart. Check out the website

On the last Thursday of every month, a truck comes to the parking lot of St Timothy's catholic church from 7 am to 11am. They take all of the above items and bring them to a thrift shop. They will give you a receipt for taxes if you want it.
Tomorrow morning they will be there.

I wonder why the lady at the office didn't say that to me. she just said NO! when I asked if they accepted donations for a thrift shop. she must have been having a non Christian morning....we all have them.

Centsible Furnishings is the place. You can take items any time they are open, 10-5, M-F and shorter hours on Sat. Call 245-4740 for pickup if it's too large for your car.

If you ever want to drive outside the 'complex', the Marion Co. Humane Society thrift store is in Ocala off of 441- I like to go there because all the profits go to the No-Kill shelter.

Another is the South Lake Animal Rescue League in Clermont. They are also a No-Kill shelter. We got our cat Puffy there 8 yrs ago. She was 5 yrs old at the time and abused.

Both will give you receipts for the IRS.

Marion County Humane Society has both a Thrift Store as well as a kennel. We have donated bedding for the "4-legged kids" to sleep on as well as items for their store. All proceeds goes back to the "kids" at the shelter which makes us feel good as animal lovers : )

Depending on what you donate, they may even come and pick-it up.
