Graeter's and Skyline

Before I left Cincinnati in December there was an article in the paper saying that Publix was going to start carrying Graeter's ice cream (a Cincinnati premium ice cream and Oprah's favorite). Has anyone seen it?

While looking for Graeter's I did find frozen Skyline Chili. A pleasant surprise. For those not familiar with Skyline, try it over spaghetti with shreaded cheddar cheese (a "three way") and diced onions and/or beans if you want a "four or five way".

They may not all understand. But I do. Yum.

I don't!

Never heard of using chili on spaghetti.

Fresh Market has the ice cream. So Good.

Thanks. I will give them a try.

Chili over spagetti??? Never heard of that! If you ever chance to travel in Wisconsin...the folks there put macaroni "in" their chili....had never heard of that neither!! Many areas of the country "do" their chili in varied recipes!

We have Graeter's in our freezer

We have bought it at Publix. Right now we have chocolate chip. It is with the other premium ice creams. If you have problems finding it, ask at the service desk and maybe says thank you for stocking it, suggest your favorite flavor.

Now really mess with the locals and tell them there is a hint of chocolate in the Skyline chili.

Welcome to TV

Me neither. I'm still trying to figure out why the chili spagetti was in the ice cream compartment!

Blue Bell ice cream is the best and can be found in the ice cream section!

We tried Skyline while passing through Ohio...just not getting the appeal. I think chili on spaghetti is fine, just thought the chili was incredibly watery. Maybe we just stopped at a bad location??

You can request your chili "dry" in Cincinnati, but what I did is stick crackers underneath the spaghetti.
Does Publix carry the best Grater's flavor - Buckeye Blitz?
Probably the only thing I REALLY miss about Cincinnati!

I have had Graeter's and it is good but not as good as Blue Bell which is also available at Publix. Graeter's is in second place according to my taste.

chuckinca 02-01-2012 02:23 PM

Went to Publix to check out the Graeter's and Blue Bell.

Pint of Graeter's @ $5.39

Pint of Blue Bell @ $2.29 (on sale for $2.00)
Half Gallon of Blue Bell @ $6.99

Half Gallon of Publix Premium @ $4.59 (on sale for $3.50)

You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Cincinnati chili is kinda like Scotch; an aquired taste. It has spices in it that are most uncommon for chili elsewhere, including CINNAMON! It is supposedly Greek in origin, although Cincinnati was predominantly settled by Germans. It doesn't make sense to me either.

I love Cincinnati chili, especially the lighter than air grated cheese on top and I love Graeter's ice cream and I love LaRosa's Pizza. I may have to go into therapy soon. :ohdear:

I had Cincinnati Skyline chili once and really liked it for a change. I'll look for it here.

Haven't had Graeter's but my friend introduced me to Talenti Gelato, also at Publix. It was wonderful.

I'm glad Publix orders items their customers request, just so long as they don't take Blue Bell away.

I believe Rasberry Chocolate Chip is the the favorite flavor in Cincinnati. I am going to go back to Publix and look again. Tried the Publix Premium Ice Cream. Not "premium" by any definition.
