Any Chance That Golf Carts Could Be Banned?

Now with accident numbers being collected and maybe or maybe not golf cart accidents are on the rise. Will golf carts always be allowed on TV streets and paths?

Of course they will. It's the nuts behind the wheel that should be banned!

The HOA estimated there were 50,000 golf carts in the villages.........that should answer your question.

No it doesn't answer it. Please do. Will they be banned in the future because of accidents?

Ban the number 1 attraction and symbol of The Villages "life style"? You must be joking. That's never going to happen.

Not taking a stance one way or the other. But with data being collected it could open up some liability questions perhaps.

Posh.

I am trying to understand. The golf carts are owned by individuals. Who or what entity would be liable? The individual who is behind the wheel would be liable for harm to person, place or thing.

There are many car accidents across this country, but cars aren't banned.

The data being collected would be to make us aware of how and where many accidents happen, I would think and under what circumstances. But perhaps I am missing a valid point.

I am trying to remember if you have visited The Villages, Posh.

Vehicle (car/truck) accidents, bus accidents, train accidents, airplane accidents, motorcycle accidents................things happen for a variety of reasons and under a variety of circumstances. The public and the gov't/controlling authorities are always looking for ways to reduce accidents but they will still happen. All of those modes of transportation still continue today and always will.

I can't believe it would ever be fathomable that golf cart use in TV would be eliminated.

Bill :)

:ohdear: Golf Carts will NOT be banned until Jetpaks are commonplace, that will allow us to individually fly everywhere. Hope there are no roundabouts in the sky.

The carts don't need to be banned, but the drivers of carts need to be licensed, just like for autos. Seems that not one cart driver knows what STOP means or when or where you should just stop, like never stop in the lanes of travel, especially on a curve. Ban some drivers, its not the carts fault.

As you may know there is a cure for ignorance, but stupid has not cure.

I heard Segways mentioned on the Brownwood video. Didn't see any of those when we visited, bet we'll have a colony on the moon before we jetpaks in TV but I'll be first in line to try :a040:

You can't fix stupid. I'm leaning your way with licensed carts etc. Some more regs of some sort.

You are so right, any driver of a golf cart needs to be licensed to drive them. And this includes people renting.

This could potentially eliminate folks driving carts that come for a LS visit. Any thoughts on our to educate them?
