Tips for Holding Seat while gassing up
 

Just wondering what you all do to keep the seat tilted up while gassing up your golf cart. I'm using a wood dowel that I slide through the seat cover straps so that it stays with the cart... but that seems pretty basic. Why don't they provide a "hold up" rod like on a cars hood?

Also, while at it.... whey you gas up at the pump... do you just let the pump run till it quits and call it quits? My gas gauge is about 3/4 full at that point, but too hard to see into the tank while pumping gas to risk going to "more full" point.

I can't help myself. When I am gassing, I sit on the seat.

We use a bungie cord to hold the seat up when we put water in the batteries.

I use a 2' long aluminum level placed from the frame to the middle of the seat.

Well that does attenuate the volume a bit, for sure. But not what I was looking for. But perhaps it explains the odor people complain about when following a gas cart.

A tip for EITHER of those 'gassing' situations:

I have a dowel I put between the seat and the chassis when I am filling the batteries. That is part of the gassing up process in an electric cart.

Eye Hooks and Bungie Cord
 

I have two eye hooks screwed on the backside of my seat. A bungie cord is secured to one eye hook and the other end is hooked to the other eye hook. When I need to lift the seat for gasoline or maintenance, I undo the hooked end and attach it to my steering wheel. It works great.

Now if you buy a cart from Carts and Clubs they solve that problem for you. You pick up the seat and right by the drivers side tucked between the seat and the cover is a strap with a snap the loops around the steering wheel and hold the seat up. Just another real easy convenience feature they add to their carts.

My Yamaha with Ultimate seats came with a rod with velcro makes it sooooo easy

On a more serious note. I have a piece of 1/2 inch PVC long enough to use as a prop rod. One end has a rubber cane tip, the other a PVC cap. The end with the PVC cap fits into a plastic cup screwed to the bottom of the seat to hold it in place when fueling. The underside of the seat has a U shaped spring clamp to hold the rod when not in use. Works great.

I tried one of the fuel gages, but they are poorly calibrated and of little use. I put notches in a dowel spaced at intervals corresponding to 1/6 of the depth of the 6 gallon tank. Better than nothing.

Our fuel tank is semi opaque and you can see how much you are filling it.

Is everyone's like that?

Mine is too Gracie so I can keep an eye on it as it fills. I also use the bungee cord/steering wheel system to hold up the seat.
