Morse Hunting Case Plea Deal
Heard about this today so I thought I would post it for those that are interested. Apparently a plea deal has been announced whereas Mark Morse will plead to misdemeanors and pay, what I would call, minor fines.
Wealthy Florida man to admit misdemeanor charges in poaching case |
Thanks for the update!

$2,500 in fines.
Probably 100 times that in legal fees and grease. . |

Personally I feel that I must accept what the Montana Government's high ranking legal eagles have decided. Two different District Attorneys couldn't possibly be on the take, could they? To me that would dangerously risky on their part. Xavier |
It sounds like the government folks were out to make a name for themselves. But the law tookover and they ran with there tails between their legs so as not to be sued for false arrest. :boom:

Pretty typical outcome for these type of cases. The fines do seem a little low but not totally out of line. A trial does not have a guaranteed outcome. A plea bargain does. I'm sure there were definite issues with paperwork -- there usually is when investigations take years, especially in an under-funded government agency like Fish & Game.
However, I still want to know what Rainey paid. To me, his actions were far more heinous than anything Morse was alleged to have done (and I really am not a Morse fan as you all know by now)! And I would still love to know why the focus (both in Montana and here) is on Mark Morse rather than someone who would cut the legs of a carcass to get a better photo op. What a slime that man is to me!!!!! |
Tisk, tisk, He was a bad boy. Based on the fine, poaching must be cosidered 10 times more serious than driving 21 MPH in a golf cart. $2500 vs $250.
Just saying. :duck: |
So the message prevailing by this slap on the hand is the arrogance of the wealthy puts them above the law. Reassuring.

Sounds like IGNORANCE AND APATHY......
Well I don't know and I don't care !!!!!! fumar ..:ho: |
Unusual Outcome

However, it is extremely usual for someone charged with felonies with possible jail time of over 20 years to be allowed to cop a plea to some minor misdemeanors and walk away after paying a nominal fine. The prosecutors ought to be embarrassed by the whole thing. It does make you wonder what happened. |
Maybe that's why his house is for sale. Had to pay the fines. Anyone have an extra few million?
