Kitty needs new home!
2 Attachment(s)
I rescued this kitty from our Vet for my mom, who wanted her own cat since my cat stays with me most of the time. Cassie is almost 2 yrs old, was already spayed & front-declawed when we got her in December. As you can see, she is a beautiful cat. My 6 yr old cat just will not accept her and growls when they get close and then the fighting ensues. The vet tech said Cassie got along with other cats while there so I think the problem is my cat. :cryin2: Call me at 753-6523 after 2pm. Barb

Kittykat it's not unusual for a cat not to accept a newcomer to their territory and frequently they will fight but if you step aside and allow them to work out who is dominant and who is submissive they may be able to coexist. It's worth a try. Please read up on this issue on the internet. Good luck, she is a very pretty cat and would be a lovely companion for someone who is looking for a pet.

:agree::agree::agree:
They'll work it out - she looks like a great kitty and torties are very loving (our 3 YO tortie sleeps at the foot of the bed every night unless it gets too cold and then she gets under the covers between us). . |

A possible match...
I just attended one of our neighborhood gatherings this evening and a neighbor mentioned to me they may be interested in getting a cat in the near future. I will be sure to stop by and mention yours to them and forward your number.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. I got some anti-anxiety drops from the vet but doesn't seem to be working. I'm going to try a Feliway room diffuser that uses pheromones to help calm the kitties. Cassie is so funny. Her hind legs are so long & she sits up on them when I play with her using one of those toys-on-a-stick.

That is a beautiful cat, she's part of the Siamese family and I see that Cassie is as well.
What you need to do is make Cassie know she's number one, it's all about her having her space. Does Cassie like to be in high places in the house? If she does, then you're just fine. High spaces, meaning does she have a cat tree to sit on and watch things from above. I have the problem too, I have a Seal Point Siamese and she's the Alpha Cat. I'm trying to help her get along with the other three, a boy and two other girls. No matter what I do, Suzie just wants her space. As long as Cassie and this cat don't touch each other; ie when it looks like they're swiping at each other and they have a good distance between them, then you should still be fine. |
Not that it makes any difference, but I believe "Cassie" is the new tortie cat.
Our Tortie also has long hind legs which I think are due to her stray mom being part Japanese Bobtail who have longer hind legs (we had two purebred Bobtails for about 15 years in the 90's up to about 2008). . |
Barb,
It was loving of you to rescue this cat and then try to find her a home. Whether you are able to keep her, or are able to find her a forever home, I wish you and her all the best. Please keep us posted. Hugs! You deserve it. |

I do think my lynx-point Siamese mix is jealous of Cassie, the new tortie. Our house has the split floor plan and Cassie has taken over the main part of the house & is free to go out on the lanai while my cat stays with me in the other side of the house. She's with me in the front bedroom most of the time, where I have my tv & computer, or she's sleeping on my bed. She used to roam the house freely. I've been wanting to get a cat perch but they're sooo expensive! I just might have to break down & buy one if that would help keep Cassie with us. Any good carpenters out there? :wave: |

Here we go again!
Well, we give up. Can't stand the fighting anymore. My cat just will not accept Cassie so she needs a forever home again, this time for sure. :cry:
