OMG, so glad I live in my little Village bubble!

There was huge police presence and wall to wall police cars there according to the news last night. Where do people get the money to pay that amount for athletic shoes for their kids?

However there were maybe three who were gonna buy 'em and several hundred who were thinking to take them from the people who were gonna buy 'em.

You can be sure that the vast majority of those waiting for these shoes would tell you about how unfair it is that the wealthy 1% of the people.... blah... blah... blah...

How about $15-$20,000 for a customized "golf cart"?

I guess that makes sense?

Here is my argument for that golf cart...which by the way we don't have. We have a nice used one that cost far less.

But...if a person has worked hard all of their lives and saved and sacrificed and didn't take money from others and that is what they want...then good for them.

I think that is how many of the villagers I see driving a fancy golf cart payed for it. It is the same thing for jewelry, that I don't have...and the same for bigger houses. Most of those folks went without something, and lived well inside their incomes and worked far more than eight hours a day to be able to have some nice stuff now.

There is no shame to have money if you earned it.

One of the ways people would have money for that golf cart is that they didn't fling out all that money for their kids sneakers.

I doubrt if I've spent that much for (my) shoes in my entire life.

Well unless you are a Nordstrom shoe shopper....

I'm sure that I haven't spent even half of that much for ALL my shoes in my entire life, and I probably pay a premium because of my big feet!

I found the report this morning on Fox News interesting in that one guy waiting to buy was emphatically stating how he was going to be able to resell the sneakers for a figure somewhat in the 5 figures, yes 5 figures! Sure sounds like there's a good chance that Walt was pretty much on spot in his comment. I can't help but wonder if any of the sneakers are they being bought on stimulus money? Wouldn't surprise me if any were!

So you have determined, from reading your posts on the subject, the following:

Parents of the group (who's ages etc are unknown) are actually paying for the shoes.

Only 3 people were going to buy the shoes for themselves, the rest were there to rob the people who bought them.

None of the people who were there worked or sacrificed for the money to buy the shoes and some even took money from others in order to buy them.

Most of the folks living here went without something, lived within their incomes and worked more than 8 hours a day to have nice stuff.

And the parents of these kids could buy nice golf carts if they didn't give them money for sneakers.

I worked hard all my life...I think I will go get myself a pair of those shoes! All kidding aside, Nike and/or the retail stores should sell their expensive shoes online only. Then you wouldn't have these mob scenes! Or maybe, just maybe it was a marketing or publicity ploy!
