Marine Base Pensacola Florida

My Grandson is stationed at the Pensacola Marine Base and would like to come visit us in The Villages. I am trying to determine which is the fastest way to get him here and back. He only has Fri to Mon for this trip. Thanks

The Navy guys might object, it's called Pensacola Naval Air Station, every Navy pilot gets his flight training there. I use to be an air traffic controller at Pensacola for six years.

I-10 runs from Los Angeles to Jacksonville and goes right through Pensacola. Tell him to get on I-10 eastbound toward Tallahassee and after a couple hundred miles he'll go through Tallahasse and then be on the lookout for I-75, exit southbound on I-75 and go through Gainesville, Ocala and get off at Wildwood Route 44 east. From there he goes 3 miles and turns north on Hwy 301 and from there he can turn east at either 466A or go another five miles and turn right at 466 at Oxford. Depends on if you live in the southern portion of TV or the northern part.

I-10 east to I-75 south......then a variety of potential routes from there depending on where you are in TV.

Now that is funny! Why would we want to be second best?

GO NAVY!

Hi Fumar miss our chats.

PS I make that trip in 6 1/2 hours.

Google Maps has it as 399 miles and 6 hrs 35 minutes (non-stop).

BUT, I agree with Fumar - around 9 hours.
With my wife's 300 mile rule it's two days.

Thank You Fumar, and do you make that trip often, and if so why?

Drive time

I hate to disagree with my Brother, but I made the trip from Eglin AFB, (actually Niceville), to TV in 6 hours. PNAS is about 45 minutes further West.
PS He's not kidding about the 300 mile rule!

Takes us about 6-1/2 to 7 hours from just east of Pensacola - that's with a couple of hit-n-run potty breaks. :crap2:

My sister lives in Pensacola and I made the drive from TV in just over 6 hours. Another, more expensive, option is to fly. Most flights require a stop over in Atlanta and by the time you get from there to Orlando and then to TV, you are close to the driving time. There is, I believe, an airline that flys non-stop from Pensacola to Orlando, but the last time I checked, it was about $500 R/T. This would be your quickest route, but it's also very expensive ( for me ).

He may want to check to see if there are any military or civilian flights going to an airport near TV. A long shot, but I had success doing this when I was in the service.

Sure! And if it offends someone you share it with, do NOT tell them where you got it!!! :icon_wink:

Bill :)
