Cats nails

Our cat needs his nails clipped. I don't see a reason to bring to a vet. My wife is afraid to cut them. Is there anyone in the Buttonwood area who can stop over and clip them for us.

I'm sorry, I can't be of assistance but I couldn't resist posting,....That sounds like it could be a wild & crazy time ! :22yikes: Will a cat actually sit still for that? I had a hard enough time getting dogs to be still for that.

...Yes, they will. I clip my cat's claws every couple of weeks, and she doesn't go bonkers over it. Mind you it isn't one of her favorite activities, but she puts up with it as she knows it doesn't hurt....If you are sure NOT to cut to the vein!

Clippers are available and inexpensive at Publix and Sweetbay, as well as many other stores.

Have you considered or has anyone tried using the Pedi-Claws?

I use a dremel on my dog's nails. He doesn't like it very much. It is sort of like the Pedi Paws.

Tom, will be there in a couple weeks and be happy to do it. It is not hard with two people. One to scruff the cat and the other to clip. If held correctly they will extend their paws and extend the nails which makes it real easy and you can see them well so as not to cut to deep. They don't like it but will put up with it. We do our cat every couple weeks and always give her treats after. Do you have cat nail clippers?

Yes, we have nail clippers but my wife is afraid to use them. She tried once to cut the nails but was unsuccessful. Maybe you will have better luck. Treavor is a gentile cat and never claws anything other than his scratching post. Let me know when you are in town. Thanks.

Tom, we live just around the corner from you. You can PM me for phone and address if interested. We have clipped our cats nails in the past with just a nail clippers. It's not hard, you just need to be careful not to cut too deeply. I do have to say that we no longer cut their nails but do monitor them to make sure they are not getting in-grown. We have several scratching posts and they seem to take care of their nails all by themselves. Is there some reason you think they need to have their nails cut? Unless the nail is growiing into their pad, there really is no reason to cut them.

My cats name is TROUBLE. Getting him to take a bath and liking it, would compare to me listening to rap music and liking it. 'it ain't gonna happen."
