Restrictions?

What are the restrictions for pet owners in TV? How many dogs/cats are allowed per household? I know we have leash laws, but can we have invisible fencing?
Thanks

It seems to depend on where you live. Our deed restrictions limit pets to two per house in Sumter County. Go to districtgov.org and then to Community Standards. On the left is a link to download the declaration of restrictions for the area you are living in or considering. Scroll through that and there is a section on pets.

I do not know for certain about the invisible fence question, but a neighbor has installed one and said that the dog still has to be on a leash when outside. The fence was installed so that the animal could not leave the property if it got out.

You can move in with more than 2 pets, but you can't replace them until you're down to 2. (Hope this makes sense.)

I've seen dogs run loose in yards with invisible fences and no one has complained, so really don't know how legal it is to have them out there without a leash.

Yes, invisible fencing is allowed and many people have it. We have it for two dogs and it works very well. By the way, there are previous threads entitled Invisible Fencing which contain a lot of information (see search button in the blue bar above to search for any topic).

I believe that most covenants state two domestic pets per household. That is what we were told by our Villages Sales Rep. However I know many people who have multiple cats because they stay indoors and are therefore "invisible". Same with goldfish!

They might not walk goldfish, but they do walk other kinds of fish. See below!

I don't know where you get your pictures, but they are weird (and I wish I had some!)

As far as I know we don't have any "crazy cat ladies" (with 28 cats) although I suppose it would be possible if the cats never go outside. Dogs would be harder because they have to be walked. But in general I don't think anyone gets in trouble over the 2 pets per household restriction unless a neighbor chooses to complain. I have 2 cats and 2 geckos on my lanai that I count as pets.

Was shocked and very disappointed to be yelled at by someone that no dogs are allowed at the new Live Oaks Park off Morse Blvd. Why should I have to go to a dog park? My dog is park of my family.

Who was it who yelled? Another villager or an official person? What did they say?

I haven't heard of a place that was off limits to dogs except stores and restaurants. Who said this to you?

Question

Was the dog leashed?

ssmith 03-07-2012 10:01 PM

....

Was the man's name Fumar?

RoseFarkas 03-07-2012 10:33 PM

Another villager. She just kept yelling, No Dogs Allowed. Read the sign. Started walking towards us yelling it over and over.

RoseFarkas 03-07-2012 10:34 PM

Yes, dog was on a leash.

RoseFarkas 03-07-2012 10:36 PM

Another villager. There's a BIG sign of rules and regulations at this new park. We didn't read it when we first went in.
