Summer kitchen grills
 

I have heard the Chargrills do not last more than two years. If we are going to build in a grill, we do not want to be replacing every two years. Anyone have information on this? If they don't do well, we will bring our Weber and not put the grill in.

About ten years ago, my wife and I tired of having to replace our grill every few years. We went out and bought our first Weber and have been happy with it ever since. We just replaced it with a new Weber because we left the old one up north with the folks who are renting our house. I know there are one or 2 other brands that rate as high as a weber, but I am sticking with them.

We have a Weber too which is wonderful. But do they make the kind that can be built in to the summer kitchens or are they free standing only?

Villages07 I will have to go back to see who said that. But there were two different people. Could you please tell me what brand your neighbor's grill is and who put it in?

Our grills don't last
 

I had said that our gas grill has never lasted more than 2 years. We do live in Upstate NY and use our gas grill all year, even in the snow. We had one large gas grill that cost 500.00. We would use that one in the summer and cover it in heavy plastic to store out on our patio for the winter. We would buy a cheapy 99.00 grill to use in the winter (a small one to fit in our garage with our car) and both grills need to be replaced after 2 years. The outside of the grill stays pretty good but the guts wore out and rusted out after 2 years. So we now only buy the cheapy one. Maybe when we get in TV it will last longer because there is no harsh weather. We'll see.

At 24K for the summer kitchen it better last longer than that.
I hope they are not using Charbroil which at best is usually junk.
We have a 7 year old stainless steel Jenn Air and it still works great and sits on our patio totally exposed.
Can anyone verify what the grille brand is?

That was the brand I heard was NOT good.

We have two grills here located in different spots hooked up direct to the main propane tank. One is a CharBroil purchased in 03. We have replaced the burners 2 times at no cost due to a lifetime warranty. My favorite grill. Puts a "nice scald" on it.

Well, I guess there is no consensus on Charbroil. So it looks like whatever you get, you should feel comfortable it will do the trick.

The stainless steel Weber Genesis is the only way to go IMHO. I Have model
LP56506 and cook everything on it that I can cook in the oven. In fact I haven't used our oven in over 1 year. I even bake cornbread, cupcakes and layer cakes on it, that's how precise the temp control is. My last Weber Genesis 1100 lasted 15 years and has moved with us from Florida to Pennsylvania and then Vermont. With a little ingenuity you should be able to adapt it to a built in summer kitchen.

We had a propane Weber Genisis in stainless steel for 8.5 years in Maine, Kept it outside year round with a Weber cover. Loved it. Never had a problem with it. Sold it when we moved to TV last fall. Hated to see it go, but wanted a natural gas grill here in TV.

Have a Weber Summit in stainless steel now. There is a learning curve using natural gas instead of propane, but I am getting the hang of it now.

I love our Weber grills.

So is Summit a natural gas and Genesis propane? We had a Genesis and it was great but it was stand alone. The only insert we see is a Weber Summit. The gas we use here is propane. Fire Magic is incredibly expensive. We would like to build a summer kitchen...not another house. Anyone know about American Outdoor? KeithWand, I would be you have Fire Magic.
