Welcome and glad you are here. Remember that a lot of grass in fairways is still in winter dormancy.

Have you tried the championship courses?

Hi Gracie

Hi Gracie I know you are the villages cheerleader lol (in a good way) but I am posting my observations. Not everyone wants to pay 39.00 to 57.00 a round here in prime time when the biggest selling point of the villages is free golf for life on the excutive courses.Having said that i am playing championship courses the next 3 days.

Even with the conditions as you describe.....I bet it beats London Ont. this time of year!
BTW if you are looking for a non boring course, try Amberwood from the black tees.

Another day

I hope this thread doesn`t bring more attacks of where i live and what course i choose to play.I played Hacienda Hills country club today(tuesday)I played with 3 lovely friendly ladies.I played by calling the course the same day and asked for cancellations(i would not recemend doing that during prime time)The course was in very good shape, very senic, lots of bunkers and lateral water. The course is very playable, many tee choices.I played as a resident member and it was 42.00(well worth it)I shot the best score here helped by an eagle on the last hole.ps i forgot to say the greens were undulating and rolling quite well.My score was 77.

I for one appreciate folks posting on conditions of courses. I had read in another thread Hacianda was in good shape. I am playing there Friday. In case you are not already aware, here is a thread where folks comment on championship courses if you want to post there or even take a look.

I am not aware of a thread where folks comment on the conditions of exec courses.....

PS. Congrats on eagle!!

I don't think anyone was attacking.

Hey Bloisy, as a fellow Canuck, I just want to say that Bogie was making pleasant conversation, not attacking you for living in Canada!

course conditions

I played Hacienda Hills on Tuesday as well The course is in the best shape it has been in the past 7 years (time I have lived in TV) The fairways finally have grass and the greens are soft. However, I should note, the dreaded Hacienda rough is still non-existant and a few spots bordering the fairways are ground under repair. Last summer a great deal of work was done to get the course in better shape and it has certainly paid off. Also played Tierra Del Sol this week...excellent shape as well. It is amazing what some rain can do.

Wed Orange blossum hills

Hi i played Orange blossum hills today with 3 friendly local gentlemen. We started of the back nine and that is where they said there are the holes like the beartrap(3 difficult holes)They said if you get through there 2 over or less you will have a good day.I was lucky to get through only 1 over.I thought the course was interesting, challenging but not in country club shape. It would be equivalant of a good municiple course at home. The greens were slower than hacienda and did not hold as well.I did not get used to the greens so my score was up missed alot of putts and my chips were not close.I know i should have adapted but i couldn`t.My score was in low 80`s

graciegirl 03-08-2012 08:27 AM

Did you know that the executive courses are rated 1-2-3-4 for difficulty?

Pelican is a four and Sandhill is a one.

You will find a lot of interesting newer courses south of 466.

Tell us what you think of them.

Not attacking. Trying to be friendly and helpful.

Hit 'em straight. ;)

There is a thread on this forum just for posts like yours telling how people find the course conditions.

wed

Hi today wed i played Orange blossum hills country club.I played with 3 friendly local gentlemen(one even had a home on the 18 hole)We started on the back nine and they say the first 3 holes are like the baretrap(3 famous hard holes)if you get through there 2 over or better you will have a good round.I was lucky enough to go thru 1 over. The course has numerous tee boxes,is challenging making you play most clubs in your bag.The condition would be like a good municipal course at home.I could not get used to the slow greens,I know i as a player should have but when i was chipping and reading putts i was just that little off.I shot in low 80`s

Thursday

Thursday i played Nancy Lopez Legacy.I arrived early and had lunch at the pool bar beside the tennis facility and about 100 steps from the golf course.I had a regular hamburger(8.70) and a lemon aid.It was nice overlooking the pool. This golf course is the first one i have been too which gives you true country club experience.Well marked bag drop, fully stocked golf shop, cart attendant.Everyone was quite friendly.I played with 2 ladies our fourth was a no show.We were the first of the afternoon wave. The course was in fine shape. It had multiple tee decks, challenging holes, undulating greens at medium speed. On the last hole(our 18)I hit a decent drive and waited for the green to clear on the par 5.I hit a decent shot pin hi on the left fringe.I drove up the cart path and while i was waiting for my playing companions to hit,i was chatting with a home owner whom showed me he had a big comfortable chair that swiveled so he could watch approach shots and puts,he said he would get up and clap if i made my eagle putt.I made a good putt but read too much break tap in birdie.I hit a couple of hooks,i shanked it (which is rare)and too many missed putts.I shot in low 80`s
