Verizon 4G LTE Service
 

Is anyone using Verizon's 4G LTE service in the Villages? According to the Verizon coverage map, TV should be completely covered for 4G LTE service.

I am thinking about the new iPad with 4G, but only if TV has decent coverage...

At this moment on my MiFi4510L I'm getting 10.06 Mbps download speed and .79 Mbps upload speed. I'm up here in God's Country (Marion County). I was in Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs on either Monday or Tuesday evening and I was getting a good 4G signal (not WiFi) on my Verizon Bionic Smartphone. I didn't happen to measure the speed.

I've had faster and slower speeds - as with everything, it varies. I can take mine with me when we travel. It is especially convenient when we use the Motor Home and when we travel by other modes. I tried to get a really long DSL cord, but that didn't work out all that well.

I'm also able to tether my smart-phone to my laptop if I want or need to. I gave up my MiFi for about a week back in September and used my Bionic Smart-phone as a hot-spot, but I changed back because I found it to be a little cumbersome for me. Verizon just upgraded the smart-phone data (4G Broadband) package to 4 gigs at the same $30 price as the 2 gigs I used to get.

I was warned by others on this site that if you surf or download movies you are gonna get killed on Data use with a 4G portable wi-fi. I did my research and I will NOT be using my Verizon for that.

Going to have to have a Century Link DSL on the black fiber run to our new home until something better comes out. LIKE FIOS That is what I'm putting in my survey! NO MORE MUDRUNNER slow internet. Lets move the villages into the year 2005 at least!

Our iPad works just fine with the 3G signal. Going to get a 4g someday. No reason to jump yet played with the new one.

I figure you get 1 hour of video in 1 gig. So a $50 plan for 5 gigs you get maybe two movies a month.

Nor sure but most on the site claim slow!

We still have to make a decision when we become Frogs this July.

I think you can get 10 mg.

I don't do much with movie downloads. I have Directv at home and in the motor home and never found the need. I am, what I would consider, a higher-end Internet user - I even use it with my Smart-TV and occasionally with my Smart-Phone. I have yet to go over the 5 Gig limit with my current plan. I've come close, but never over. I admit that when I'm updating the maps for my GPS I wait to do it when I find a WiFi hot-spot because the download is always over 2 gigs. Verizon only charges ten bucks for each gig over the package limit. The ten gig package is $80. I would no doubt look for something better if we stayed in The Villages all of the time. We travel 4 or 5 solid months each year and a half-dozen one week or 10 day trips while we are in Florida.

I've been using Verizon's Wireless Internet for nearly 9 years and have been very satisfied overall.
