Million Dollar Lottery Winner on Food Stamps
A woman wins one million dollars in the lottery. She's still using "food stamps" to pay for her groceries. She receives $200 dollars a month from the taxpayers. She says she needs it and deserves it because she's struggling to pay for 2 houses, she tells a reporter, as she unloads the groceries from her new car.
It seems that this is legal, somehow. Unbelievable, it is, to me. She should be named "poster child" for our entitlement society. I'm thinking she's an Obama voter, for sure. Woman Who Won $1 Million Lottery Still On Food Stamps | MRCTV |

Did you happen to notice that the food stamps were pulled when it was discovered she had won the lottery and was also a food stamp recepient?
You are going to have cheats no matter which program you look at. Medicare and Columbia/HCA were cheating well over $200 per week (the amount the food stamp recepient was cheating) and Floridians elect their former CEO as Goobernator. |

UPDATE: I guess Buggy was right. The publicity surrounding this winner put the kibosh on her dipping into the public's purse for her milk and eggs. She was barred from further checks. The initial story I read inferred that there was nothing illegal in what she was doing. This story seems to indicate that her not reporting "assets received" is illegal. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/3114...mps-amanda.htm |

There is no Republican who ran as a moderate who won the Presidency, except for possibly Richard Nixon. Even both Bush's ran as conservatives with a strong conservative message. (What they did afterward is irrelevant to this fact) Conservatism wins every time it's tried. People are brainwashed to believe otherwise, but the facts bear me out. This is why Romney is running as a strong conservative. The majority of the country identifies themselves as conservative. |
Thanks for the acknowledgement.

She should be charged with fraud or receiving under false pretenses. She can afford her own defense lawyer.

the truth be known we would all be in shock if it was ever revealed just how much fraud there is in the food stamp program. Always has been for many, many years.
No different than the billions of dollars of fraud and cheating in Medicare. The government knows the details but is unwilling to risk losing any part of a voting base by enforcing the laws. Sound familiar...no different than illegal immigration, duplicate programs, meaningless programs, pork, favors etc. The question to be answered is does she meet the rules and intentions of the program now with her windfall or not? If no, then the ONLY right thing to do is drop her from the program. ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS/RULES!!!! It is just that simple. But the politicians will not....and the violators know it. Business as usual!! btk |
Fraud in government programs and in fact involving insurance companies has to do with misplaced popular leanings.
People have a unfavorable opinion of insurance companies and too often their reaction of fraud runs from glad someone "stiffed the insurance company" to an apathetic response because they don't view that insurance companies as victims. What they forget is that all policyholders end up paying the bill and what they also don't recognize is that in one way or another they are condoing criminal behavior. Much of the same applies to governement programs especially the misplaced popular leanings. Why can't people take one step back and see fraud as fraud and something that under any circumstances cannot and must not be tolerated??????? |
I think "people" do step back and understand and are all for enforcement...politicians however have a different agenda, hence do not.
