Day Trip/Nasa Discount

Having 15 & 8 year old visit with parents - what fun day trip would you go to? And do Florida residents get a discount at NASA? I did not see anything online. Do not want to do Disney.

day trips

our grand kids of similar ages, loved Wild Bill's Swamp ride near Inverness. We also took a quick beach trip to Ormond By the Sea. Its close to Daytona, but is completely family orientated. There is even a bath house, beach side snack bar and public parking. Tom & Jerries is another swamp ride, which looks a little more upmarket than the other one mentioned. Market of Marion is good for an hour or two if such things appeal. We are booked to go to Bills Underwater Swim at Crystal River to swim with the manatees in early April.

Gatorland and Homosassa Springs are both really interesting places.
Kids might like Gatorland better, but Homosassa has the manatees, and
an incredible bird island

Univ of Fla museum in Gainesville is great for both adults and kids. Includes a walk thru butterfly enclosure.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to NASA several years ago, but there weren't any kids/teens in my group. If you go, I recommend you also visit the Astronaut Hall of Fame which is just a few miles from NASA. The displays contain items donated by former astronauts and gives a walk through history of the space program from the 1960's through the present day.
