Off-Campus course recommendation needed

I am trying to coordinate a scramble for our neighborhood group of mid/high handicap golfers. I am looking for something moderately priced ($25 - 30 range) with fairly wide fairways (or ar least comfortably away from houses and/or serious trouble). In the past we have played Stonecrest (very nice, but seems to be outside our budget this time of year) and Miona Lake (did not like it at all). I was looking at SummerGlen, but from the layout, it looks like a lot of vulnerable windows for the slicers in our group. Is this a correct observation? Also, what about either of the courses at Plantation?

Any other suggestions?

We played BaseLine yesterday and it is a beautiful course with reasonable rates. You might want to give them a call and see if they can accomodate your group. It's up 301 about 20 mins. from 466.

There are ads nearly every day in the sports section of the Daily Sun for courses away from TV.

Yes, I have played Baseline and indeed it is a beautiful course. However, it is not a "regulation" length course, with mostly par 3s and some par 4s. Since we typically play the execs here in TV, we are looking for something a bit longer for a change of pace. Plus, it is a bit pricey considering its length.

Yes, I have been following the ads, but what the ads don't give me, that I hope the golfers on TOTV can, is recommendations on which courses meet our desires for fairly wide open fairways. Plus, I'm sure that there are courses in the area that do not advertise in the Sun.

My Dad really likes this place. I have never played it but maybe others have. If you have an interest I can ask him how difficult it is, but my gut feel from talking with him is it not overly demanding.

Our regular Saturday foursome like Eagle Ridge. Always in great shape annd in your price range. If you don't mind the drive, Stone Creek in Ocala is outstanding for $28

Plantation Club - Cranes Roost and Arlington Ridge are "friendly" courses. Cranes Roost is in good shape, but Arlington Ridge has wide fairways. In fact, my husband is taking our son and son-in-law there this Saturday to play a scramble.

Another vote for Eagle Ridge. One of my favorite off property courses that is close by. Have not played there in a couple of months but I have always found that course to be in very good condition and reasonably priced.

We played Arlington Ridge last Saturday. Course is in terrible condtion . Greens really bad and fairways bare and spotty. Don't think you will be happy with it.

Continental

I played 9 holes of this yesterday..I love this course.Seems to have the "old Florida" look going on..Regulation in size, failrly well maintained and reasonably priced..Shotgun starts,18bucks for 9holes.I have heard Lake Miona referred to as "cow pasture" and that is what it looks like to me..Some outright dangerous holes there (inmho)with very small greens..
