Blowback...

First a definition...according to Wiki....

"Blowback is the espionage term for unintended consequences of a covert operation that are suffered by the civil population of the aggressor government. To the civilians suffering the blowback of covert operations, the effect typically manifests itself as “random” acts of political violence without a discernible, direct cause; because the public—in whose name the intelligence agency acted—are ignorant of the effected secret attacks that provoked revenge (counter-attack) against them.[1] Specifically, blowback denotes the resultant, violent consequences—reported as news fact, by domestic and international mass communications media, when the actor intelligence agency hides its responsibility via media manipulation."

Very well written opinion piece linked....

Why We Should Care More About 'Blowback' From U.S. Foreign Policy - Conor Friedersdorf - International - The Atlantic

The premise or part of the premise is that Obama's foreign policy in the middle east is causing more "blowback" than ever in the Bush years and supposedly that was a problem.....in the article is this quote from Obama during the campaign..

"Instead of serving as a tool to counter terrorism, Guantanamo became a symbol that helped al-Qaeda recruit terrorists to its cause. Indeed the existence of Guantanamo likely created more terrorists than it ever detained."

The writer then follows with...

"But now that establishment Democrats have one of their own in office and are less inclined to advance the blowback critique, almost no one is doing it. Look at our sad loyal opposition: It's a political liability to be seen as overly apologetic to foreigners. A single press conference about American exceptionalism has generated critical mentions for years. But a bungled raid that kills dozens of innocents? Opinion polls positing that Obama is less popular in the Arab world than Bush? Aren't those major fails? Neither Republicans nor mainstream Democrats act like it. "

They are referencing our undeclared wars in the ME where we hide behind drones that kill innocents.

It is worth a read...not a political opinion piece but one on foreign policy and a bit aimed at bleeding hearts but I try to read all sides as I go and it points out as I cite that Obama is a lot of talk......a master politician and for sure not what his followers believe him to be.

Yeah, Obama is a lot of talk.

I am sure Osama Bin Laden would agree with you - if he was able to. You remember Osama Bin Laden, don't you? The world's number one mass murderer and terrorist - the leader of AL Queada. Ring a bell at all?

Let me jog your memory - Bin Laden is the guy Junior and Dick couldn't find for 7 long, agonizing, painful years. He's the reason (supposedly) that caused Junior to issue terror alerts about every month.

To this very day nobody can explain Junior's foreign policy.

So far, our President hasn't started any wars. Our homeland has not been attacked. If that is the resullt of "Obama is just a lot of talk" - I'll take it. And, I suspect so will a lot of other people. Millions and millions, in fact. On election day, you'll find out just how many.

It is rather curious that the cons never mention "the war on terror" anymore.
HHhmmmm .... must just be a coincidence. Evidently, discussing the war on terror among cons has taken a back seat to birth certificates and contraception.

I realize you cons are not happy unless we're invading some country for reasons nobody can explain and wasting billions and billions of dollars, not to mention wasting the lives of our young men and women - but, try to amuse yourself in other ways.

Get yourself an X-box game and pretend your Chuck Norris invading Vietnam while waving your birth certificate, or something. You know, the stuff cons fantasize about - but never talk about. At least, not until they've had a few beers - then they all become tough guys. Tough talking that is.

As soon as cons start talking foreign policy they show just how foolish they really and truly are. If anyone is foolish enough to believe anything a con says, then they believe Palin is a member of MENSA - and man and the dinosaurs coexisted 6,000 years ago.

Have a pleasant evening !!!!!!
