Violence against women act

For discussion.....this act is renewed, I think annually. This year, the Democratic party has ammended it to extend to ILLEGAL immigrants, and thus the Republican party is slow to approve as they have in the past.

Should the bill be passed with the new ammendment adding illegal immigrants to its protection ?

Yes. Human right should extend to any women on US soil regardless of status. Unless you want to say it is OK with us to beat the bejesus out of women if she is not properly documented. Simple logic applies.

This does not look that simple. The Democrats and the Republicans have different views on the provisions in the re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

Check the links above and do some more research on your own.

Personally, I would like to know what organizations that deal with such violence would like to see done with the VAWA. They usually do not have a political ax to grind. Sometimes they do, though, especially in an election year and with limited funding.
