Bates Lawn Service

Is anyone else having a problem with Bates Lawn Service. They were not doing my lawn as scheduled and now the service manager is too busy to discuss the refund of unused payments. Are they short of people? Management problems? If anyone knows anything please respond....

Just talked to Marty and he said that even though I feel that I did not receive a service in January, nor did my neighbor, that they did do the service. They did not leave an invoice at my door in January nor did they leave a sign on the lawn. Same for the neighbor. He said they don't have to put a sign in the lawn or leave an invoice. He said that's optional or someone could have taken the sign?? Who would want a Bates sign enough to steal one? He said that if I want to cancel and get a refund that I should write a letter, he didn't know where or to whom, but write a letter cancelling the service. I told him I would write a letter and copy the BBB.

I've gone with Scott's. They were doing it before and have always been reliable and very professional.

I use Bates and am not having any problems. Service on schedule and if any issues they have come right back to fix. I pay per service as I didn't want to commit to yearly in case I wanted to cancel. Have you tried to reach guy named Marty? He has always responded to me.

We've used Bates off and on for years. We found that Bates has some technicians that are very good, and some which seem to be "temporary" in nature and don't care at all. A lot of neighbours use Bates and seem to be happy with them.

For the past year we've used a lawn cutting guy that also trims shrubs, etc., and best of all, has a pesticide license. He works in our neighbourhood and we're very, very happy with him. Neighbours are a great source of information when choosing contractors.

Just completed a letter to Bates asking for a refund and filed a complaint with the BBB of Central Florida for charging for prepaid [services that were not provided. I can't believe that leaving an invoice at the door and putting a sign on the lawn covered with chemicals is at their option. "Maybe someone stole the sign?"

You got blown off in typical Florida worker fashion! We have Bates and are not always home when they perform the monthly service. I asked not to have a lawn sign placed and to have the receipt of service mailed rather than stuck to the front door for all to see or blow away. I was told the signs are mandatory and their system requires a receipt in the door. So sorry no mailing.
basically opposite of your problem. For them it's whatever is convent to them at the moment.
