Loch Ness would not be in my Top Ten places to visit in Scotland. I would be more into ruins, castles, museums and cathedrals.

Loch Ness has some of the most beautiful scenery on the drive along its banks. And there is Urquhart Castle which is impressive itself. True, the Nessie thing is overplayed, but that area is worth the drive by itself.

Just watch out for the motorcyclists that seem to have a death wish. The speed limit is 65 on a two lane road and we were passed several times by cyclists going far faster than that. And across double yellow lines and around curves. Yikes! We used lay-by's frequently to allow them to get by safely, but some insisted on passing whenever and wherever.

If I ever get to Loch Ness I will have to watch out for the motorcylists. Wonder if these cylists are tourists or natives rushing to serve the tourists??

Most of the cyclists round Loch Ness, will be taking part in the Jon 'Groats to Lands End cycle ride. My family did this last year. The roads around Loch Ness are really scary!! and when you get up to Glenco, pray!!
But it is beautiful, when it stops raining :icon_wink:

After our experience with the A82, we decided to take the road on the eastern shore. B something or other. Big mistake. For most of the trip along the loch, it was one car wide over hill and dale. The only good thing was Pooh got to take pictures of the black-faced sheep close up and personal!!!

Well if you were being pursued by the Loch Ness monster you would be going in excess of 65mph on a two lane also
