Yankees Coming To TV

In an interesting new development, it was announced that the NY Yankees will be coming to The Villages, part time at least.
The present Polo Field activities will be moving to a new location near Brownwood. The addition of horses and stables seems like a logical move with the area being planned on a Florida horse country theme.
The present Polo Field structures will be demolished to make room for a baseball stadium in similar appearance and size to Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida. Steinbrenner field was constructed to look like a downsized Yankee Stadium. It includes training and practice facilities and first class fan ammenities.
In the spring of 2013 the stadium is slated to open, hosting a series of NY Yankees spring training games. When the major league teams depart Florida in April for their regular season homes, the stadium will be home to an additional team playing in the Florida State League, a minor league affiliation playing in the state of Florida.
The Yankees will be an exciting addition to the many recreational activities in The Villages. They are a proven winner and a first class organization, a natural fit to The Villages.

Now if the Cubs were coming you really would have me going. The Villages would never get rid of its polo. Its the sport of kings after all.

It sounded real but i bet it would be an April Fools trick. Although big Yankee fan, just think of the extra traffic The Villages won't be able to handle.

YEAH, IT DID SOUND LEGIT. And I forwarded it to about 10 people. So a) I have been spoofed...good one bluedog...b) I have disseminated bad info on the internet c) I now know to question the info here...:)

The title of the forum on which it was listed says it all - "Just for Fun."

You are so right. It is Sunday and all mental systems are working on reserve. :). I missed that important clue.

Wow, that was really funny. But it would be great to have a minor league field within TV

Thanks to everyone, we had some fun with this thread. Too bad the moderator gave me up so early by moving it to Just For Fun.
