Recommendations for Grandkids
Grandkids here for a few days - other than the family pools and the town square, any suggestions of things they might like to do? (ages 4 & 6)

If they are boys....go to the CVS and buy them some cheap cars and push back some mulch in the planting area and it is an instant sand box. Give them some water in plastic pitcher and let them get dirty. That will certainly make memories. Tell them about when you were a kid. Buy a couple books and read to them. Gracie, who misses teaching kindergarten. |
Mini golf at Tree Tops on Rolling Acres Road should be fun!

Feeding the birds and ducks, going to the playground near Sonny's in LSL. Dye some easter eggs, get some fun craft materials at Michael's, take them to dollar store and let them buy a few things that they pick out. My grandkids(the little ones) love to look at old family pictures and also pictures of themselves when they were "little". They will love riding in the golf cart for hours, maybe have a picnic at the new little park near the haciendas at mission hills. Be sure to devise some sort of seat belts for the golf cart rides.

We took our 5 & 2 yr. old to New Smyrna beach one day and Homosassa Springs both were GREAT! If I did one I would go to the springs closer and it wasn't as involved.

Wild Bill's Airboat ride
Enjoyed Wild Bill's Airboat ride out on RT. 44 - 8 miles for I-75 interchange.

Let them take the golf cart for a spin!

If you haven't been to Gatorland, then you and the kids will be in for a treat. Not that far away and very well done...nice exhibits, scenary, shows, very well kept/clean. Makes a nice, short day trip from TV:
Welcome to Gatorland, the Alligator Capital of the World and Orlando's Best Half Day Attraction! btk |
THANKS EVERYONE !!! Some great ideas. :)

Kids activities
There is Camp Villages which is activities designed just for the kids during holiday vacations! Check out today's Daily Sun. They do lots of Arts and Crafts projects. Also over Easter/Passover break there is supposed to be FREE fishing in all of the lakes....no permits required.

Gatorland and Homosassa Springs are both great for kids, especially this time of year as the critters are pretty active in springtime. Silver Springs is closer (Ocala) but I've not been there yet. Be sure to ask for AAA, AARP or Florida resident discounts as applicable.
