Golf GPS or Radar
I was told on the course one day that these devises should be outlawed as they cause slow play. Sounded reasonable to me at the time, but I have watched those that use them, and I see ZERO slowing of play from the folks I observed. If anything, if these devises helps the golfer miss water/bunkers etc, I would be more likely to see them as a means to speed up play and not slow it down. Just my observation.

If anything, I would think a GPS would help to speed up play. Without a handheld measuring device, one would walk to the nearest marker and pace off the distance to the green. In my opinion, that would slow things up more than using a GPS. Just my opinion!

I use the guestimate method. Look at the marker and pretty much guess how far it is from my lie to the green. Since I am not playing for $1,000,000 I can guess close enough. And I am not usually that much off from the GPS devices.

Looking for a distance marker (which can be difficult on the Championship courses) and pacing off takes much more time than using a GPS.

I've been using GPS for several years now and I honestly think it speeds up play.
I just take a quick glance at the GPS see the yardage and select my club. |

I guess the person who has told you that never saw golfers walking off the distance to be able to select a club.
