Guest in golf cart not playing golf cost $3.50

We were surprised to learn that a non golf playing visitor riding along to be with us socially costs $3.50.

I suppose it is in the fine print some where. There was no charge for them to use the rest rooms!!

My friend and I took our wives to Sandhill recently in a 4 person cart. They wanted to ride along, see the course, and take some pictures. The starter said he was supposed to charge us $3.50 each for the riders, but since the previous starter had not left him the receipts or stickers, or whatever he was supposed to give them, he would'nt charge them this time. Live and learn.

I did not know that.

I have only used a "spectator's pass" on the champisonship courses where there is no charge for someone to ride along. Until I read this I have assumed the same policy for the execs.... that someone just riding along would not have had to pay unless golfing.

I would have been wrong and hoped my Mom (never golfed) would have $3.50 in her pocketbook when we found out :1rotfl:

Alan seldom carries cash and I do not think the execs take credit card

Depends on what mood the starter is in.

So for $7.00 2 can just ride around the golf course chasing golf balls and more. Thats more fun than a day at Disney and a lot cheaper.

Seriously most courses I know don't allow any spectators.
The spectator (for ins. purposes) would have to have their own clubs and pay whatever price a golfer pays.

Whether they actually hit a ball or play after that is up to them.

The Villages Good Golf Guide addresses this issue. It states that everyone who is riding on an executive course, including spectators, must pay the $3.50 trail fee. If the golfer and/or spectators are walking, then no trail fee. Championship courses don't have a trail fee. I've played on several courses outside TV that allowed spectators. I call them caddies and let them pull my cart.

Agree. I was one day over my annual fees and HE charged me 7.00 (me and wife). Two days later another starter gave my friend a free ride. :cus:

It has happened later with other friends - some have to pay and some get a free ride. Go figure.

I now have a calendar entry to know when I pay.

Cash only for executive courses. Couple of weeks ago my friend had his nephew here, who also never carries cash, and when he went to charge his exec golf he had to borrow cash from his uncle.
