Florida and Arizona

Florida should adopt the same law as Arizona for immigration. When I lived and worked in the Keys it was a given to carry your birth certificate to prove citizenship if stopped for a traffic stop. We never thought anything of it, was glad they ask. Now it has to go to the supreme court to judge the law,no. Why have any laws if we are not going to enforce them . Federal government should allow the states to govern their laws and enforce them.

Good thread DOUG.....just found this on my morning reads...

"Supreme Court justices took a dim view of the Obama administration’s claim that it can stop Arizona from enforcing immigration laws, telling government lawyers during oral argument Wednesday that the state appears to want to push federal officials, not conflict with them.

The court was hearing arguments on Arizona’s immigration crackdown law, which requires police to check the immigration status of those they suspect are in the country illegally, and would also write new state penalties for illegal immigrants who try to apply for jobs.

The Obama administration has sued, arguing that those provisions conflict with the federal government’s role in setting immigration policy, but justices on both sides of the aisle struggled to understand that argument."

Come on.....it this ALL politics ? Note that BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE are confused by what Obama is saying here.

For those who like polls...

"Arizona’s immigration law — slated to be heard Wednesday by the Supreme Court — has stirred up accusations of racism, conference boycotts and a strident legal challenge from the Obama administration. Despite all the controversy, the judgment from poll after poll is clear: Americans like the law. A lot."

And if the Supreme Court upholds the Arizona Immigration Law, President Obama will win Arizona, IMHO. He's not that far behind Romney in the polls in AZ right now. This ruling could put him right over the top. After all, it's Romny who is against the Dream Act.

Again, other than your undying love for Obama I am trying to find out what you think...no answer yet on healthcare, but let me just ask one question...

Should the US enforce their own law ? And if they dont who should ?

Mitt Romney said in one of the debates that the Arizona Immigration Law should be the model for the country, then he said he never said that. Sorry Mitt, there's such a thing as video tape.

To answer your question, the Supreme Court will decide if the law is legal. If they do, then it should be enforced.

Your really think that running on "open boarders" and "amnesty for all law-breaking illegals" is a winning platform with most Americans??

Please, please let the Democrats run on that......please!!!
