Replace Water Shut-off Valves

Have any of you taken the pre-emptive action of replacing the push/pull shut-off valves under the sinks with a traditional lever valve? Can you provide a rough idea of what it costs? We are told that the push/pull valves are not reliable. In fact, a neighbor of ours had one let go while they were out to dinner. By time they came back, they had a couple of inches of water throughout the house and a big and expensive mess to clean up.

Can't help you with the cost. Just surprised The Villages used them on your house. Mine has the traditional valves. I'm sure any plumber would give you a free estimate.

From an earlier post. Check out the warranty and see if it would apply to you. May save lots of money.

Thanks to a suggestion from BOMBERO, I called ACCOR, the company that makes these valves. There is a 10 year parts and labor warranty on them for the original purchaser. However, they will still send you FREE replacement valves up to 10 years. They were very pleasant to deal with and offerred to talk me thru replacing them. I'll post again when I get the new ones........

Had them all replaced within the last year, after a couple posed some difficulties.

Kiley & Sons Plumbing. Excellent folks. Prompt, courteous and efficient. Also, very reasonable. Sorry, though, I can't immediately discover how much for replacing.

Were the replacements plastic quarter turn valves?

No, good old fashioned metals ones! :-)

Much better than plastic ones!

Make sure you exercise them every couple of months so they don't rust up and won't turn when you need it.

(that's a good idea for all valves)
