Interesting that they passed it unanimously despite all the opposition to the funding. Also interesting that the "ask the developer" event is always scheduled after most snow birds have left town and no questions are ever allowed.

I don't ever recall this being billed as town hall meeting. Anyway, with the usual hundreds in attendance how would you suggest the questions be controlled?
We have a voice in the annual resident survey that is conducted.

Well is there anyone surprised by this result? Welcome to the Developer's fiefdom

Here's a thought. How about Mark Morse spend an afternoon and travel around to various recreation centers and give his 30 minute speech to a few hundred people at each location? A few questions could be submitted and selected in advance, then the Daily Sun could report on these questions and answers.

Perhaps I misunderstood what I just read, above. What I understood is that it was never going to be funded by amenity fees. That the folks who were up in arms had incorrect information. It is funded in the same way it always has been.

Why are you saying what you are saying?

What would the purpose be?

The purpose would be to reach out to more people. Imagine how much easier it would be for elderly residents on the historical side to congregate at Paradise Center in the middle of the day instead of Savannah Center at night. Mark or Gary Morse have been conducting these informational meetings the same way ever since I moved here in 2000, when the population was 20,000, in the same space designed to accomodate a few hundred people. They should hold them at the height of the season, not after most snow birds have left.

Its his ball and he can do whatever he wants too.I have no problem the way it is now.

janmcn: The Developers visits are one sided. He is only and always in a telling mode. He doesn't much care what you and I think. He is not his father. You are confuing The Villages with a democracy.

Bogie Shooter 04-28-2012 04:30 PM

There may be a democracy down the road..................

Well someone needs to repeal Sumter One, leadership in the VHA that has no ties to the Developer and removal of the developer's poltical synophants from utility, hospital boards, etc. and have some sway in the Golf Administration and much more ...otherwise down the road is going to reach the moon.

billethkid 04-28-2012 04:44 PM

they sorta operate like the federal government
....pretend to be watching out for we the people/residents.
....pretend to listen to our wants and needs.
...then turn around and do what ever they want anyway whether we like it or not.....AND no matter how much it costs, because they know we the people/residents will roll over and not struggle let alone fight!!!

btk
