During the build of your home

I was wondering when your home was under construction did you visit the site to check the progress etc.

What was the process like in general?

We visited the site twice a day and there was a rarely a day when something wasn't being worked on.

They worked in teams.

The subs referred any questions we had to the builder of our home. There are many builders here, several for each different home series. You cannot select a builder and people will frequently say they have the best and some will say they had the worst, human nature being what it is.

This morning at six A.M. there were NINE cement trucks lined up with more than a dozen cement " techs" in place working on the home across the street from us.

We find it fascinating to watch.

That's called being a "sidewalk superintendent."

I was in NJ but the salesperson took pictures during the construction and sent them to me.

It was nice to see!!

You have to be quick when you look! We left TV one Saturday night at 8:00 pm and our "new" neighbors said we should have stuck around! The cabinets were delivered after we left that night! This is an amazing process! We were very impressed!

In a word: QUICK! Somebody else can quote exact number of days for their build from start to finish...........but to me, it's truly amazing what they can get accomplished in such a short period of time.

I liken house construction in TV to the 'Mongolian Horde Approach' - if it takes 3 guys 20 hours to accomplish something, let's throw 10 guys at it and get it done in 6 hours! The fellows who do the foundation, slab, and block work in particular......it looks like ants at a picnic when they're working - guys EVERYWHERE! And they're all working - no shovel leaners.

Bill :)

It goes up fast

Home was built in under 70 days. Start to finish.

My neighbors helped me with pics to watch the progress. TV also gives you a nice CD when you close.

I was lucky that my builder gave me updates and answered some very important questions I had.

Just remember it's like a cheap date. The romance goes on till you close.

Then you say goodbye to your builder and say hello to the home warrant departments. Not a bad thing but a necessary part of the process.

build of your house

We were told it would take 65-70 days to build but now they gave us a closing date of July 11 and that is about 59 days. I hope the house will not be rushed and the builder does a good job? The bank just cashed our deposit today so they should begin building this week.

It could be the demand is slightly off this time of year.

Anyone know the slower months for sales?

mulligan 05-12-2012 11:14 AM

It slows down a bit from Dec23 to about Dec 27' and on easter sunday. You gotta be quick!!

Our Sun Kissed took 54 days - from the day we signed the contract to the day we closed. This was in summer 2011. We were not in TV during construction. Pictures were sent to us by our sales rep, a neighbor and a friend.

They do?????? We didn't! :sigh:

The bottom kitchen cabinets arrived and were defective. They could have fixed them onsite but instead, they have sent them back for ones that are well made. I don't think they rush anything at the expense of quality.

Home build

Our Wisteria took 63 days from signing the contract till closing. We did drive down twice to see the progress. We both thought it was built like clock work. No wasted steps. We also both enjoyed the whole process. When we picked the lot it was a old watermelon field on a pond with no houses or trees as far as you could see to the east. I did have one neighbor on the west side of our house that was the last house built on the pond in 2006 I beleive. We were fortunate as that neighbor sent us pictures almost daily. Just one of the many reasons my neighbors is great. We picked our lot out in Febuary of 2009. We was a little hesitant at first looking at a field of sand trying to picture the veiw, but a freind that I work with mother lives in Liberty Park, We was invited over to meet her and have some wine and cheese. We had a good visit and talked to her about our concerns before we signed the contract. She basically stated you do not need worry about there not being any trees or houses, she said first you will see the houses built and the next year or two you will start seeing tree tops growing above the roof lines. She was absolutly correct. By the summer of 2010 it was nothing but new beautiful houses and landscaping as far as you could see to the east. LOL
By the way the villages called us two weeks earlier than the scheduled closing date and asked if wanted to close earlier. We was not expecting or prepaired to move the closing date so declined the schedule change. No CD of the build was given away at that time that I know of.

graciegirl 05-12-2012 01:41 PM

No CD at closing....Either time.

Monday I am going to see if we can get our money back.
