Blinds for the lanai

Does anyone know of a good business that handles blinds and hangs them, and hopefully they are trustworthy thanks Dave

Call RK Products at 430-4430. They sell and install lanai blinds and are good and honest.

We're going thru this process right now and have two other options for you..
  • A company by the name of SunShades displays some nice products at the Market at Marion. I'm getting a quote from him tomorrow. Mike @ 800-832-4268. Haven't found any comments on the company on TOTV.
  • Home Depot and Lowes have a product called "Coolaroo", a roll down exterior shade that might be of interest to you. Installation looks moderately easy for a couple.

Dave, if you pull up the "Search" function and enter blinds as the search term, you'll find a number of different threads where people have offered feedback on various companies around TV.

We bought vertical blinds for our lanai at Lowes (not the coolero, we passed on that one). They installed them and they are great. We count them as the best thing we have done to the house in two years, and we have spent some bucks. Wnt thru my files to see the manufacturer and couldn't locate them

anyone consider Bahama type shutters, not only for the sun but also privacy.

Kinda like the old south

I like the old style too, but just wouldn't work here. Not enough infrastructure to put anything like that over or around our windows.

solar shades

When I was ordering shades for my new place I had a chat with the person who is doing them and he showed me solar shades. I thought they were amazing, you can see the view through them but they cut out the sun. I am not yet sure we need them for our Florida room but if we need something, I am getting those. They are not intrusive, they are sleek and I thought relatively attractive, blending in and make no statement but to keep out the sun. Just another thought. They hang inside a Florida room or lanai area.

I think the aluminum frame could handle those.

We moved here Oct 2011 and used Village Blinds & Shutters in Oxford. Maybe a little pricy, but professional, exact, neat...completely replaced window coverings (whole house) with composite 2" blinds and a fantastic drape w/shear underneath (bedroom) for light coming through. Kudos!
