They expecting tornadoes there?

I coitintly hope not, but you never know.

I lived in upstate NY all my life before moving down here last year and in all that time we only had one tornado that I recall that passed about 6 miles away from our home and virtually feet from our camper in a campground the tornado affected. A camper about 3 trailers from us got flipped!

An Elks Lodge that my wife and I were highly associated with served as a disaster center for rescuers and cleanup workers, and we knew many people involved. This tornado occurred in 1998. See the video about this tornado:

Wow, never thought about them being in NY state. Ya never know for sure. My curiosity peeked on the other thread when you said your home was in TV for now is why I said the tornado thing. "for now" was a clue. Whats up?

Nothings up! It was a humorous play on the title of that thread, nothing more!

On Groundhog Day, 2007 there was a tornado that hit in The Villages and about a dozen homes were heavily damaged. No injuries that I know of except for some mighty shaken people.

People here in The Villages have Weather Radios (mine is a Midland) and you can also have emergency reverse on your telephone to notify you if there is a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm coming. This part of Florida is well known for lightning strikes.

You never know

We live in Indiana and have had many close calls with tornadoes through the years, many very close to our home. Having said that, my husbands boss just moved to TV when the tornado came through TV and her house was hit....she thought she was safe....you never know. Just heard there was an earthquake 2 on scale in Indiana today...!!!

Helmets!

Did you read last week that the CDC recommended wearing helmets during tornadoes? CDC Tornadoes
They recommend them only if you don't have to go looking for your helmet when you should be taking shelter. If you see me dancing at the square wearing a helmet, you'll know why! :p

Every State gets tornadoes!!!! even the ones you don't think would do...there is no way to advoid them :( When we had ours here in TV, I went throught my neighbors home to view the damages...it appears that the only place that was left standing was the island in the kitchens...the under side where the counter sticks out looked like a safe place to sit under...all the closets were torn apart, so was the bathrooms & hallways!! Just wanted to share my findings....there was six homes on my street that were hit & torn right down to the slab, like I said, the only thing standing was the kitchen islands!

Was there no one in any of the houses? Boy, that was lucky! They surely would have been killed.
