What should be our next step with Syria...

we have a "truce' but on basically the first day of that truce, 55 dead and 372 injured !!!

This part of the world should be of great concern...just add Iran,Syria and Israel in this very tight situation and there is trouble. Obviously military is not nor in my opinion an option at this point, but keep your eyes on this region. WE WILL be tested !!

"It is too early to write off as a failure U.N.-Arab League mediator Kofi Annan's efforts to bring an end to 14-months of violence in Syria, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said on Thursday.

Rice spoke to Reuters in Florida hours after two suicide car bombers killed 55 people and wounded 372 in Damascus, Syrian state media said, the deadliest attacks in the Syrian capital since an uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began last year."

What Do The Generals Say We Should Do?

Oh, I forgot. Based on what the House recently voted regarding the defense budget proposed by the generals, I guess we listen to them only when it meets our political purposes.

So what are the generals saying? And what is our political purpose? From the looks of things, it seems like we've concluded that we don't have a dog in the fight, so holding back and watching might be a good strategy.

That sounds like it might be our only alternative. What could we do anyway, even if we wanted to?

Stay out of it. Let them kill themselves. We'll be better of for it. The president is bad. The "good guys" are islamists. Were better off without either.

Well, the deaths continue and now Russia is claiming a presence of Al Qaeda in the country.

The only two countries that have any influence here are Russia and Iran, and you now have Syria accusing neighbors of assisting "rebels"

Not many, if any options left here, but when you look at the players here (Russia, Iran, Syria), you have to be concerned.

On thing that bothers me is that the media seems detached from what is happening. This appears to be a significant story. If it is true, as we here, that the world is smaller economically, then it is also small in cases like this where so many people are dying each day.
