Anyone read, "90 Minutes in Heaven"?
 

A friend of mine bought a used copy and liked it a lot. So she gave it to me to read. I have about 3 more chapters to go. It's interesting, although, not the type of book I would usually be attracted to. I may have more comments after I finish it.

Yes, I did read it and found it amazing. I was first introduced to the book by a total stranger sitting in the seat next to me on an airplane. He had just finished reading the book and was so taken by it, he needed to talk about it. I went out and bought it the next day. I've given it to a couple friends to read. One friend didn't believe in such things, but after she read the book, it made her re-evaluate things. The book sure does make you think!

My comments after finishing the book:
 

On the last page (205) Don Piper said: "Dick Onerecker prayed me back to life-...."

Doesn't he ever stop to think if it worked for him it could work for others? Nowhere in the book does he ever contemplate this possibility. Why?

How many toddlers drown in swimming pools every year? Why not at least try to pray them back to life?

A friend of my family died at age 45 from a sudden-death heart attack. He left behind a wife and kids. It might not happen often at that age, but it does happen. Why not pray these people back to life? Blocked arteries can then be treated in various ways.

There are all kinds of situations where this would be helpful. Does Piper consider them all to be better off dead? Why wouldn't he, or his congregation, at least want to try this. If it works, it would certainly prove that what happened to him was real. Of course, there's a risk if they can't duplicate it, it might destroy his story....his dream of heaven? That may be too big a risk for him to take.

Any comments?

very good book, try "Heaven is for real" also good book!!

I read the book twice. Since losing my parents, I became fasinated with the world beyond. I read most of Sylvia Brown books. Then I started to watch the TV show Medium. They say there is no such thing as heaven that the dead live in another world 3 feet above us in another dimension. Every so often I find pennies all through my house and I know that someone came to visit me. My daughter in law just went to a party where there was a medium. She had to pay $100 to see if she could contact her Aunt, Uncle and Grandmother who just past within the last 6 months, however, her dad's grandparents came through instead along with 5 other relatives that turned out to be on my side of the family although, they did not speak at all. I also started watching John Edwards show. My cousin, Mary and my son, Paul have a sixth sense. They feel spirits around them all the time. My father constantly takes his fingers and clicks my son's forehead. I think my mother comes through and touches my hair all the time. It annoys the heck out of me. I felt very sorry for the man who died for 90 minutes. What he had to go through. I don't know why God made him suffer so much. What I wonder is if God died on the cross for us why do people suffer for years and years? Why doesn't God make them better? God did not suffer as long as some people do today.

I haven't read this particular book...but I did read "Heaven Is For Real" and I highly recommend it! It's very easy to read and it also was an encouragement for me.

I read a book last year that was very encouraging about evidence of the afterlife. Ghost Hunters

You bring up a point made by many...some are non-believers, others are believers, but question, WHY??? For those who are believers, well, they answer, it is the will of God that prevails. For those who are non-believers, well, it sort of gives proof to them that God does not exist.

Only when one dies will they know for certain if an afterlife exists. If you go first, let those left behind know what's going on. I have a deal with a person in Australia...he is a non-believer...if he dies first and heaven exists, he's going to be amazed....he doesn't have to let me know. If I go first, I'll be there to meet him when he arrives. I'll have a carnation in my hat so he can easily find me. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.... ;) He's a very nice gentleman and I look forward to meeting him....he said he'd bring candy... ;)

I have long given up that struggle concerning the existence of Heaven. I have lived a good honest life, was a good husband , father and friend. I helped many people along my life path. Sooo if heaven does exist then I will join my ancestors. However if he does not then becaused I died I can no longer think and if I can not think then I am not.
