cataract surgery recommendation

Looking for recommendation for some unusally complicated cataract removal due to prior Lasik surgery. Also, need retina specialist. Any recommendations?

Went to see Dr. Morris at Ocala Eye just the other day. I'm scheduled for cataract surgery and my husband has been referred to the retina specialist in Ocala. So far, we've been very pleased.

My wife is in the middle of the process of having cataract surgery on both eyes. She has had the first surgery at Ocala Eye Surgery Center in Ocala one week ago. Her vision is currently 20/30 in that eye (20/20 might be achieved) and it's the best she's been able to see since grammar school.

She's just waiting now to be contacted to schedule the other eye. Except for the surgery, all her visits are at the Laurel Manor office here in The Villages. The Retina consultants are also in Ocala near the Surgery Center. My wife has Dr. ElMallah and so far she's very satisfied with the results!

No recommendation for a provider. But just a comment on my experience since it's similar. I originally had Lasik on one eye (mono-vision). I got Restor lenses for cataracts in both eyes. They did the non-Lasik eye first, the Lasik eye second. I was disappointed because I paid for Restor lenses that were advertised as full range vision (near-middle-far). The result was very close to what I had with the mono-vision Lasik. One eye is distance, one close vision. It seemed to me like the implant prescription was derived from my naked vision prior to the surgery.

I honestly don't know what to make of it. As I said, I'm just relaying my experience. Overall, the procedure is straight-forward. It did eliminate the cloudiness and I immediately notice the bright whites that I was missing. I actually had it done a little earlier than necessary, as soon as the insurance would cover it. Insurance covered basic lenses, I paid about $1000/eye for the Multifocal Restor lenses. The end result is I continue to have the same vision, without the need for corrective lenses. Since you had Lasik, I assume that's what you're looking for. I believe it should last as long as I do now.

I'll second that. Dr. Maizel is a retina specialist and you don't have to drive to Ocala to see him!

Dr Panzo is the cataract specialist there and he did my hubbys eyes in Jan. They are in Summerfield on 441. Hubby was very pleased.

My wife just had complicated cataract surgery with Dr. Morris at Ocala Eye. Wonderful results. We checked out the credentials of all the eye specialists around the villages. Our hometown eye specialists also checked out docs down here. Amazingly, his recommendation was to transfer to Dr. Morris.

I forgot to mention in my prior post that I asked Dr. ElMallah about how many operations he performs a year. He told me around 800. He must be just about able to do the proceedure in his sleep... not that I would want him to! :22yikes:

Dr. Zeini

Has anyone been to Dr. Zeini? His office is near Winn Dixie.
Just wondering. Someone recommended him to me.
