Why aren't there more elected leaders with the common sense of Angela Merkel, Germany's Chancellor? Last week she said...

"Not spending more than you collect--it's astonishing that this simple fact leads to such debates."

Geez, that's how almost every family in America runs it's household budget. It's not exactly high finance. Maybe that's why Germany is one of the fiscally-soundest countries in the world. Failure to follow this simple rule is also why the U.S. is headed for the financial cliff.

Maybe our elected leaders aren't as smart as either Merkel or most of the American heads of households who manage their budgets.

But I guess we knew that, didn't we?

It's all about buying votes of stupid people looking for "free stuff", by promising them goodies bought with borrowed money and more printing of money not worth the paper it's printed on.

Interesting oped on Merkel in the NYTimes today.

Lots of commentary but what I found interesting as I did not know it but she scrapped the plans in Germany for any nuclear power and Germany is now big time dependent on Russia for power.

I must say....Russia is reemerging on the scene as a player...the mid east Europe, firing missile's. Not sure how I feel about this emrgence, but suggest we keep an eye there.

of course the current administration knows the simple understands not spending more than is taken in......that is the very reason Obama and this congress has not even attempted to put a BUDGET in place. As was stated by a congressman during the mid term election campaign when asked about the budget....I am paraphrasing here.....there will not be any activity on the budget between now and the election as there are too many embarassing questions to be answered in the process!!!!!

I have always wondered what the wizards in Washington would do if all those employed cranked up their with holding allowance so as to pay little or no taxes for one year....the theory? No money coming in........it is of course not realistic to even contemplate such a happening, but would that get their attention or not.

We can only hope that flushing the incumbents out of office, including Obama....that are mostly legally trained.....replacing them with non lawyer backgrounds and more with Romney type backgrounds.

We can only hope that happens in November. We KNOW Romney understands a simple income statement and we can expect to encourage him to use his Bain style of fixing a broken company to fix the USA income statement starting with a balanced budget.....NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES TO GET IT!!
