Walking the Courses?

I just registered on TOTV, and my husband wants to pose the first question! He is an avid golfer, logging about 4 times a week on 18 hole courses currently!

Thinking about moving to TV and interested in the following information.

Is there any policy against walking and carrying your bag?
Same for pull cart or motorized pull cart?
Any difference in the above between championship and exec courses?
Then, assuming no 'policy' issues, how many people actually do the above on each type of course.

Thanks for the input!

David

You can walk the courses and they even have pull carts available for rent (at least at exec courses).

The majority of people use golf carts, very few walkers.

There are many walkers on exec courses in winter months, just to hot in summer to walk. We have also walked with friends on championship courses. However most people just use their carts since they drove them to the course anyway.....besides after golf there are many other activities one does in a day here so energy conservation is important !

Thank you! I loved the part about conserving energy for other activities:thumb up:

Hubby is happy to know that walking is allowed and he has that choice if he wants to! We are currently in GA and know how hot it gets in summertime. Maybe not as hot as TV, but HOT!

You can do either depends on how you feel that day

Walking the execs is reasonable. I walk them all year round. But the championship courses are more difficult to walk even with a push/pull cart. There are some lengthy distances between holes on some courses, and the walk between nines can be significant as well. Because of this, I don't walk the big courses because it can really slow down the foursome waiting for me to catch up at the next tee.

Walking courses

Golf courses in TV are NOT "walker friendly".....LONG walks between green and tee.....I walk both but sometimes in summer my tongue is brushing the fairways..

I know someone who walks the courses....does it for exercise and uses a push cart for their clubs. I think it depends on the individual and how "fit" they are.

also even though executive courses are free to play....you must pay a trail fee to ride your golf cart...I usually walk exec. course and ride champ. course golf cart is included in your rate

ureout 06-04-2012 10:11 AM

although the executive courses are free to play...you must pay a trail fee of about $3.50 for 9 holes to ride your golf cart....I usually walk exec. course and ride champ. course where golf cart fee is included in rate

You can pay the trail fee annually for your household at $141.24. So about 40 rounds on the executive courses is the break even point. My wife and I play about 3 times a week. Thats 300 rounds for the household.

Hi Marla. It will be great for you and hubby to enjoy the golf in TV. I wanted to let you know we have a neighbor who moved here from Georgia. He told me it feels 5 degrees cooler here than Georgia. He said it's not as humid and there is almost always a breeze because it is so flat. Hope to meet you guys some time.

If interested I have a motorized cart with a remote control that I don't use anymore so would probably like to sell it. Haven't checked the batteries lately but assume they are still OK.
