Fifty Shades of Grey

Has anyone read it?

asianthree 06-05-2012 06:59 PM

is anyone going to admit reading it, bondage, soft porn and story line

jojo 06-05-2012 07:16 PM

Someone told me his wife's book club was reading it. Wouldn't that make for interesting conversation?

jnieman 06-05-2012 07:18 PM

I read all three. Very good story line.

Trish Crocker 06-05-2012 10:22 PM

I'll admit it! I'm on book three and enjoying all of them. I have to admit, I do gloss over some of the sex stuff...enough already!!...but I am getting educated about some things and like the characters and the storyline. The books do tend to open your mind to things that were hard to understand. It would be interesting to be at the ladies book club!

I haven't read it and don't intend to. From what I have heard...not up my alley.

gerryann 06-05-2012 10:36 PM

I picked it up at the grocery store today. Haven't opened it yet. I agree it could lead to a very lively discussion at the book club. Love to be a fly on that wall.

I am going to have to read it. I hear it is vibrating. Or was that riveting? ;)

mickey100 06-06-2012 05:40 AM

I read the first novel - basically just another romance novel, with the soft porn/bondage twist to it. Just easy, light reading. I won't read the rest of the series.

You are just too funny Gracie!

I'm about 50 pages into it, nothing titillating yet, but soon. . .

But I wanted to respond to what someone said about not reading it, not her type of book. One of the things I love about being in a book club is that it forces me to read, or at least start, something that is maybe not my usual type of book. I've been pleasantly surprised sometimes, and read stuff I would never have picked up on my own.

It's kind of like going to college, at least if it's a college that is not a clone of your high school. You are exposed to lots of different types of people and trains of thought you may never have gotten to on your own. I think that's a good thing.

vacation reading

I am going on a cruise vacation next week... It is downloaded to my Kindle... Should make for a fun read....

It is back on some Florida public library shelves after being removed. '50 Shades of Grey' Returning to Florida Library Shelves After Ban - chicagotribune.com

I have been reading a new book by Anne Rice about werewolves which is steamy enough for me. I do not think I could handle Fifty Shades of Grey.

The new Anne Rice book is The Wolf Gift which is kind of boring IMHO.
