Dust in the wind...and on the table...
 

Roaring through my second full week here in Paradise South, I need to know.
Does anyone have a fine, white dust on their EVERYTHING in your home? I have never had central air OR this kind of powdery dust before. Does one coincide with the other? I don't mind dusting but every single day on almost every surface is a bit much. Thank you in advance for your advice/input. Have a lovely dust free day!:icon_wink:

Are you in a newer area where construction continues near you? We had dust for about 1 1/2 years until the construction settled down. Now, everyone is adding on birdcages, pools, and so on. The mess continue. It will get better.

There's been no construction around us for a number of years now, but I'm getting a layer of dust on my pc screen every day. Of course, it could just be my sheding my winter coat at this time! :icon_wink:

No white dust here!! Haven't ever had white dust in the 3 years we've lived here...in fact I've told folks that I don't have to clean nearly as often here as up north. The dust I wipe up tends to be black. We're in an "old" area between Mallory and Hadley!!

Welcome to Dustland. It is indeed a fly in the ointment. I was beginning to think that it was somehow caused by Gary Morse to keep us on our toes and keep me from further deifying him, but I was told by folks who moved here from southern Florida that it was dusty and yucky near Boca too.

Who knew?

Well, the dust from construction is just one more reason to consider a re-sale home before buying a piece of dirt or a home in a neighborhood that is just being constructed.

We had it pretty bad the first couple months..new construction. I was taking allegra steady because of it. I think its it the air ducts. The more we've dusted, its gotten better. Mom's an obsessive cleaner so think thats helped. The carpet was full of sand though :( Finally drug out the steamvac to clean it and haven't been vaccuuming it up anymore. All new builds do have construction dust, some are worse than others. I know in NC it was bad too with our last house. It does get better though.

However everyday I go outside to sit at our table i have to wipe it down because there is a layer of dirt :(

We had a lot of dust our first year because of construction. Dust on the table in the lanai would be 1 inch thick. We have less dust now than we did in Ohio. Happy day.

We don't have a dust problem at our home in an older, established area of TV. When you live in an area with lots of new construction, ("lots" of new construction-- get it :rolleyes:), dust is unavoidable. Eventually, this too shall pass.

We've lived in Amelia 5 years now & continue to have a lot of dust. Mom says it feels gritty but I don't notice that; just that it's thick.

Thanks for all of your input! We are in Santo Domingo. No new builds here. As we are here less than 2 months, it's all new to us. Not a deal breaker and the people who bring us feather dusters are thrilled to have yet another investor in their wonderful product. Or maybe I will just turn the lights down and go out for 9 holes. "1 inch thick" Sounds a tad exaggerated to me. Have lived at 2 different "new" sites here in 9 years. thin layer (measured in mm) but 1 inch:22yikes::loco:
