Does anyone know about this business?

I have been contacted by a company called Collectables Unlimited from New Port Ritchie. They tell me they are in the Villages every Friday evaluating and buying from Villagers. It just so happens that there are a couple of things I've been thinking of listing on e-bay and actually said they could come here to see them. I did a Google search and found them but wonder if they are just coming to" case the joint". HELP PLEASE.

There have been many articles in the newspapers about the traveling gold buyers and that one should beware. I have never heard of these folks but if I had gold, jewelry or heirlooms I would look to one of the local buyers for offers.

Thanks for sharing that.

If you search and know the fair market value from ebay or other sources and these people are in that ball park fine, if not look elsewhere.

No harm in getting their offer.

ellen - i am too much of a skeptic and have probably perpetrated my fair share of fraudulent acts on friends [nothing illegal ;)] to believe the info you post! goes back to if it's too good to be true... i never even sign a petition for anything! if you are so inclined, you might want to give the seniors vs crime a call to find out if they have any info on that business:

You could see if they are listed with the chamber of commerce in NPR or with the BBB. Or even Angies List... See as well if there are any reviews on Yahoo

Ellen, if the items you've been listing on eBay are fairly small in size, it might be worth considering meeting them in some local public place so you could show them the items there rather than in your home.

Just a thought - - - -

Bill :)

Thanks everyone, good ideas all of you. Looks like no one has heard of them.

My rule is to NEVER deal with solicitors of any kind. It has served me well over the years.
If I have a need for a product or service, I originate the research necessary or ask informed persons I know for personal recommendations based on their actual experience dealing with a certain company.
For instance, if I want popcorn then Bill-N is the go to person!

Oh, and :welcome: to TOTV!

Weight Watchers brand I trust. :-0

Happinow 06-20-2012 08:21 PM

Be careful!

My red flag just went up....please be careful and know what your valuables are worth before accepting any offers or letting anyone into your home to look at your things. Look your item up on eBay for fair market value.

I absolutely and completely agree. I do not trust ANYONE calling me, mailing me or visiting my door with any kind of deal.

I think if you are that uncomfortable, you have answered your own question. Always listen to your gut. Ditch these guys, please!
