No Hunger Games

I guess we won't be seeing the movie "Hunger Games," since it is a Lionsgate film and Lionsgate is banned from TV. Too bad.

2catsmeow 06-25-2012 05:52 AM

Well, I wouldn't say 'banned' but you are correct in saying that we will not be seeing any Lionsgate films here. I contacted 'TheatreInfo' to see if I would get a response about Lionsgate films and the possible showing of Hunger Games.

"Thanks for your inquiry.
Unfortunately, we do not have a Contract with LIONSGATE Films. Our attorneys and theirs just seem to not be able to work out a glitch. Until such time as they can, we will not be showing any Lionsgate Films, which this title is one.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
TheatreInfo"

I hope when the new theatre opens that an agreement can be reached.

Michael Moore's movies are distributed by Lionsgate. So are the Hunger Games trilogy, 3:10 to Yuma, The Cadallic Lawyer, Dirty Dancing and some others. This is the Dirty Dancing remake, which I believe comes out next year.

Banned implies censorship...is it possible that it is just a legal snafu that will eventually be worked out? Let's hope so.

Can't see a movie because it's not shown in TV??

We drove over to Leesburg rather easily to see it at the mall theater. It's nice to "get out of town" once in awhile and see some other communities...and the unmatched beauty of the chain of huge lakes right there by the mall area.

With The Villages showing current box office movies on 16 screens in the 2 town square theaters, we're not exactly deprived or "censored" here.

And the DVD and BlueRay release of the movie is mid-August.

I saw The Hunger Games at the Belleview Twin Cinemas. It is a $5 per seat movie theater that's in OK condition. The screen is rather small though.

We went and saw it in Leesburg. Nice theater in the mall by the food court.

That's where I went to see 3:10 to Yuma which was also distributed by Lionsgate and never made it to the Villages' theaters.

I don't mind driving to see it but right now the only theater I can find showing it in Fla is downtown Disney in Orlando. Wonder why?

It is a rather old movie for a 2012 release. I believe it came out about 4 months ago. The Hunger Games (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have been reading the sequel to the book The Hunger Games. This is Catching Fire the movie of which comes out in November 2013.

I saw the movie about 2 months ago. Now I'm about 80% through The Hunger Games on my Kindle (yes I am backwards -- see the movie, then read the book). I am looking forward to reading the other 2 books in the trilogy. Maybe this time I will have read books 2 and 3 in the trilogy before the movies are released.
