My cousin who lives in Phoenix and I had a discussion about weather where she claimed that 110 to 120 degree weather with no humidity was the worst. I disagreed saying she didn' remember what it was like in New York when it went to a hundred degrees with 100 percent humidity. She came east one year during a week with 100degree/100 percent humidity. After two days she was asking my aunt to drive to the airport to take a plane back home as she couldn't breath.

We are leaving Austin, TX and moving to TV to escape the heat!! 109 on Monday, 107 on Tuesday, 106 yesterday and 100 expected today .... and it's only June!! All of July, August and half of September will be 100+ every day!!

Sigh... It is no better in the Chicago area. The forecast for today is 103! Can't wait to go south!

IMHO 100 degrees is HOT no matter where you are. Just different types of discomfort....

I'm in Central Kentucky where its only gonna be about 97 today. Makes me wanna put on a sweater listening to these temp reports.

I am in Osage Beach at the Lake of the Ozarks. We are under a heat warning until Saturday at 7pm, and it will be 106 today. How they know it will cool off at 7pm Saturday, I don't know, but I sure hope that they are right. It is also very dry and dusty.

all of the above make my current 82 in the northern NYC suburbs feel great.

To me its all relative. I'd rather deal with 100 plus temps for a couple of months than 20 below zero up here in the chicago area in the winter. I would rather take clothes off than put more on. :)

My younger daughter is observing her 14th anniversary today (6/28) in St. Louis (currently 102, I think).

I reminded her that her wedding day was the hottest of the summer of 1998. She remembers it well!

For an outdoor wedding and reception, we'd several days before selected the perfect spot for the service. On the day, the spot was in full sun! Staff and others, including the groom, said "To h*** with the original plans, just move evrything into the shade."

Meanwhile, the bride was inside freezing to death because she hadn't thought to bring a cover up for her off-the-soulder gown! And, her husband's purple tie bled all over his shirt!

And, no one ate any of the hot hors d'oeuvres!

I agree with you on that! Fortunately I'm in an air conditioned office, and my a/c is on at home for the comfort of Mr. Magic Cat. ComEd (the local utility company in the Chicago area) should be raking in the big $$$ this month as Chicago has had a hot start to the summer. I surely don't envy the people in the Chicago area who don't have A/C.

My youngest sister and her husband got married on 6/13/1998 in a very old, un-air-condtioned Catholic church in Cincinnati. Hotter than blue blazes on that day, and I'm in a long bridesmaid's dress, sweating with all of the other bridesmaids and flower girls. Luckily the priest decided to make it an abbreviated wedding liturgy as my brother-in-law was not Catholic at that time. We were in and out of the church in 35 minutes -- thank you Father!

I compare my northern home city with Orlando all the time. Many days during the summer it is hotter with about the same humidity in Illinois than Orlando, Fl. or TV. Air Cond. has all of us spoiled but not so when I was growing up in Southern Illinois. Many nights during the summer we slept in the living room on the floor instead of our bedroom which was upstairs. Wow-----the good ol' days!
