Parking

We are looking to buy a Courtyard Villa and it appears that they are only 1car plus golf cart parking. Currently having 2 cars, do they allow parking a car on your driveway or must all vehicles be parked in a garage? Eventually we would sell one car but until then wondering what to do with the 2nd car.

Thanks for any help in advance.........

Yes, you are allowed to leave your car parked in the driveway.

Yes you can park overnight in your driveway. It is your home.

I agree with the previous posters. You can park your car in your driveway overnight. I have a fullsize 4x4 truck which is too tall to fit into the garage so it stays outside on the driveway. In addition, all CYV neighborhoods have set aside an area for additional parking for approx. 5-6 cars.

I have a CYV and am fortunate to have a 2 car garage. There are some around if you are patient..... We have a villa in Forsyth Villas.

just make sure your car will fit the CYV we looked at the drive was very short

Thanks to all for your responses. Didn't realize there are CYVs with 2 car garages. Will have to check that out. Thanks for that info.

Those spots are for visitors only. If you use one of the spots for your own overflow parking, someone will notify TV for sure!

I saw 3 CYV listed with 2 car garages. Village properties VNH 819012, VNH 819013, and VNH 827012.

The additional parking spots are for Visitors only, as dkrhardy pointed out. We were told by Village Watch that they do daily checks of CYV Visitor Parking, and that any vehicle consistently parked in Visitors Parking will be towed. I do not know if this is true! I'm just relaying what Village Watch told us.

You are right, we have that near our CYV and the rep said it very clearly. The other residents will complain!

But nothing will be done!

Yes, it is a violation of our deed restrictions. Specifically, ours reads:
(Article IX. Parking Restrictions - "No owner of a homesite shall park, store or keep any vehicle except wholly within his driveway, garage or other non-visitor parking spaces.")
However, when I called TV Community Standards (751-3912) a few weeks ago about a neighbor's vehicle that has been parked in our visitor parking area for over 3 months, I was told after they did a "drive-by" that there was no violation since the vehicle was tagged. When I pointed out the above section, she said that restriction is no longer enforced and I would have to call Sumter County police to deal with it. (Oh for the days when Nick was in charge of VCDD!)

When I asked her what other deed restrictions were no longer being enforced, she did not have an answer:grumpy:

So good luck with that one and please do let me know if you get a different response from them.

Thank you everyone for correcting me about my earlier post about the set-aside parking for guests and visitors only. My Bad!! Should have read my materials more carefully.

I just don't understand why residents/neighbors would go around and have a problem with a vehicle parked in a spot for an extended period of time?? That would not even be a spot on my radar. An old junker, abandoned, or unregistered vehicle is one thing.

BUT, Rules are rules...

If you had guests and the parking was full, then you might care. I think I would care. The only thing that DOES bother me is that the TV folks may choose to overlook the Article IX. Parking Restrictions. Oh well, I sure hope that is the biggest thing I ever have to think about! :)
