Healthwise, how will you diet be different on July 4 th.?

Will it be the basic "fattening-up" diet of corn, potato salad, fatty meats and beer, etc.?

Does grilling bring out the cave-man or cave-woman in you?

Have you ever noticed that grilling gives you a bigger appetite and that you tend to overeat as a result?

If you go to a town square to do some serious perspiring, do you have a plan to stay properly hydrated? (Keep in mind that alcohol has a dehydrating effect on the body.)

You must have read my menu!!

Ribs on the grill, corn on the cob with lots of butter and salt and pepper and red skin potato salad. For dessert a homemade peanut butter pie.

Since alcohol is a hydrate I will drink two beers instead of one to counteract the effect of hydration.

Caveman, you didn't tell us what time to come over?

I'll probably have a couple of bacon cheesburgers, instead of plain cheeseburgers, plus salt potatoes with butter, potato salad, and apple pie with ice cream. I'll also have a couple of mango margaritas to keep a balanced diet.

Fincel's sweet corn is now available in Dubuque, IA. Nothing better on July 4 than corn on the cob. :icon_hungry:

The hubs and and I have taken a bit of a lesson from you and Jimbo! We are having grilled portobello mushrooms that we will use as a burger on sprouted whole wheat buns. There will be roasted corn on the cob (w/o butter). Also found some elbow macaroni made from whole grain corn flour for a pasta salad with a tamari/hummus dressing.

I'm not being a wise ass, that is really what we are having! BTW, we have never felt better!! Gave all the meat, chicken, fish, etc. away this past Sunday. We are in it for the long haul. Thanks guys for the wake up call!!!

Just ate quinoa and black bean salad for breakfast. That's at least a healthy start! I might see a portobella mushroom burger in my future, as well. Trying to cut way down on sugar and increase tenfold our consumption of veggies. We're always appreciative of support. Thanks!
