Stocking Fish Ponds

I read somewhere that some of the ponds are stocked. Does anyone know of a list of which ponds get stocked?

Is there a map or list of the lakes and ponds in the Villages?

I am not a fisherman but these MIGHT be a good resource. Lake Miona Fishing near Wildwood, Florida | Hook and Bullet

You can do a zip code lookup for good places to fish which will bring up a map too. http://www.hookandbullet.com/fishing/

The pond on Canal St. opposite the Bonita mailbox is stocked. The Ashland pond was stocked however the sinkhole destocked the pond.

The pond on the Virginia 2nd hole has some mighty big fish in it. A fellow fishes there in the evening, and he pulls out some really big fish!

It's also catch and release, right?

Yes. Catch & release. Basically, fishing just to annoy the fish.
If you're under 65 you also need a license.

I went fishing in the pond behind LaHacienda Rec Center today. I didn't catch anything, but another guy there caught two in the hour that I was there. He kept them and told me that there is a five fish maximum on Largemouth Bass.

The following is from The Villages Fishing Guidelines:
The VCDD practices catch and release. Catch and release is defined as “a practice within recreational fishing intended as a technique of conservation. After capture, the fish are unhooked and returned to the water before experiencing serious exhaustion or injury.” This definition goes hand in hand with the core values of The Villages and the VCDD.

I see a lot of people fishing at the pond at the Santiago / El Diablo golf courses off of El Camino Real.

99% of the chemicals used on a golf course stay in the grass. There is close to zero per cent that end up in the water.
