Window film
Thanks
|
I've done it on standard glass windows and it helped a TON..
My job was not quite as good as professionally installed, but it was pretty good and not very hard. I'd say.. go for it. If you want *perfect* (or your spouse does), get a pro. Mine lasted about 10 years, then started to chip and wear, but it came down easy and can be replaced. |
3M film
I had 3M film professionally installed throughout a previous house in FL including 4 large multiple section sliding doors.
After 14 years it was still perfect. |
We had it installed in our previous home, but not here yet. It does cut down on the heat and you can't see in from outside nearly as easy. I watched while the guy installed them and it looks very simple, but he's been doing it for years and knows all the tricks. If you do decide to do it yourself, use LOTS of soapy water on windows that you have just cleaned. Also, you need a good, smooth, clean squeegy anxd several towels to put down under the windows and doors to catch your excess soapy water.

would it void the waranty on the windows? there is a thread about this somewhere
|
I guess you know you can't put it on double-pane windows.
