How do you clean your baseball caps? Golfing hats?
How to Clean a Baseball Cap | eHow.com
I have heard a lot of conflicting advice about how to clean baseball caps. These are the ones that usually do not have any tags on them showing what they are made out of or how to wash them. |
Don't wear 'em, don't need to clean 'em.

I let them soak for 5 - 10 minutes in cold soapy water (or when I remember.) Rub gently with your hands. Rinse in cold water. Stuff loosely with plastic bags. Actually those mesh veggie bags are best. Let dry on the lanai out of the sun in a breeze if possible. Some of the hats are stiff enough that they don't need stuffed while they dry.
No hot water. No sun. |
son's caps
When my son was home I had bought a plastic cage that is shaped like the cap. You open it and either place it in the washing machine or dishwasher. The cage served to keep the cap's shape. They had these cage forms at many of the discount stores....Don't know it that is helpful or not.

I wash them on the gentle cycle in the washing machine, and then put them over a bowl that fits them and dry on the lanai out of sunlight. Works okay.

I throw the baseball hats and visors in the washing machine and air dry.

I take the easy way out - throw them in the washing machine and clip them to a rack in the garage to air dry. Nothing special needed. Works great and no hassle.
|
I put white or beige ones in the top shelf of the dishwasher and wash along with the dishes.

Dishwasher.

I take the white or beige ones with me into the pool. A little chlorine does the trick!

Tried washing 6 of my baseball caps in the washing machine on cold water. 4 of them survived and are now air drying. The other two were ruined by the velcro straps of my various other baseball caps. Some of the threads were pulled out by the velcro straps of the other caps. No big deal. You learn by trial and error. The two ruined ones were fairly old anyway. |
