Cable companies

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what cable companies are allowed inside The Villages? Is it just Comcast, or do we have a choice? If it is just Comcast, how do we change that?

mulligan 07-29-2012 08:21 PM

Cable is comcast only. In the newer areas, comcast cable, centurylink fiberoptic, and several dish vendors. Problem is, comcast and centurylink own the infrastructure. a new cable company would have to run cable through all the back yards underground to provide service. Highly unlikely IMHO

Thanks for the info. I thought The Villages owned the infrastructure. That's why I have DirecTV. Was looking to change to BrightHouse, which is far superior.

>>>I cannot get a 352 AC they gave me a 386AC Bummer<<<

What are these things?

Area Codes

I've been with Directv since 2008 and wouldn't have anything else. Down here it's pretty much mandatory unless you're a Jaguars or Buccaneers fan or like blackouts on Sunday afternoons in the fall. If you're not an NFL fan, then I would go with Prism at Century Link.

What do you have for internet? I currently have Comcast.

Duh. I didn't make the connection between cable TV and phone area code. Did not even recognize 352 as a familiar number. At least I didn't think that AC was air conditioning.

Thanks.

South of 466-A you can use Brighthouse for cable, internet and phone. They bury the cable as they lay it, no unsightly cable outside for weeks. The service is great and the price is very competitive. Depending on where you are living, I would highly recommend them. Oh yeah, no contract to sign but a guaranteed price for two years. Niiiiice!

Does Prism require a contract?

Speaking of contracts, does CenturyLink/Prism require a contract to be signed and if so, for how long?

mulligan 08-12-2012 12:23 PM

we're 2 months into century with no contract--bundled

goodgrief 08-12-2012 01:36 PM

Another vote for brighthouse if you're south of 466a. Service calls 7 days a week. No charge, no contracts, good pricing on bundling phone, internet and cable. Can't say enough good things. Have had Dish / Direct and other cable companies over the years and would never go back. You also have the weather issue with all the afternoon storms and satellite dish interference/disruptions. Go Brighthouse if you can. Look for there rep on here, don't count on there website to say if they're here or not. When we originally checked it didn't come up but the rep said no problem and it wasn't :) New office in Wildwood too :)

Is Brighthouse available on Ridgewwod Path in Fernindina? We are closing on our home on 9-19-12. Sure sounds like that is the best option. Thanks for sharing this information.
