Class warfare
At first glance, it may appear the idea of "taxing the rich and giving to the poor" appears "fair" HOWEVER, there are many problems with this idea. Under a CAPITALIST system, one beome "rich" through the process of hard work, and raising taxes on the group merely penalizes success. In addition, the top 1% of Americans pay 22% of all revenue while the bottom 50% pay nothing in income tax. From this, it would seem clear that those among the 1% already pay a "fair" share of the revenue. Many among the demonized 1% are the major JOB CREATORS IN OUR SOCIETY!! Therefore increasing the taxes on these major job creators will result in less money for these businesses. The consquuences will be LESS jobs, and career opportunities for Americans.
Could it be Obama's goal is NOT to fix the economy or revive jobs, but merely to get reelected???? |

Who is demonizing small business owners??? That seems like a Republican Political Action Committee gimmick. |
a quote from the above post:
"Small business people create a lot of jobs but my guess is that there are all kinds of tax incentives for them to create new jobs." The facts and reality of the matter is there are not "all kinds". A more accurate statement would be there are almost no loans available to small business owners since the beginning of the bail out era and the tightening of credit for homes and any other similar risk category loans/incentive. How many people do you know who got federal assistance with their mortgage problems? How many small business owners do you know who have received dollar one of incentives or assistance? Both very nice sounding, political issues designed to make the general population feel good about the government spending billions and trillions....with very little if any end result reaching or benefitting we the people (including small business owners). The answer to both questions above is very typically......NONE!! If there are really all kinds of incentives and assistance programs available please forward to me what, where, etc. as I have several small business entities that I work with that have been eagerly pursuing such, to date, only talked about in speeches, benefits. I eagerly await details. btk |
Lets get to the small business part. Repubs would have us believe that nothing has been done to help small business. Lets see what a little research reveals: 18 different tax cuts for small business...more than 150,000 low interest loans...new small business lending fund....and 2 billion dollars set aside for small businesses in the early stages of development. These are the real facts not some talking point memo. Can more be done? I dont know but to say nothing has been done is a lie simple as that.

certain posters and wealthy individuals an corporations want us tobelieve they made it on their own with lots of hard work. The hard work part I have no problem with but this independent,on myown,no help stuff has got to stop. These groups of people and organizations get more help from governments that tey care to share. Security, laws and deregulations, research and infrastructure, subsidies that I call corporate welfare, and finally disaster relief. 1.3 trillion in tax expenditures go to the top 5% taxpayers. 250 billion a year go to the top 1%. Mortage interest and rental expense deductions return almost 100 million a year to millionaires. 280 Fortune companies which together paid only half the maximum 35% taxate recieved 223 billion in tax subsidies. Finally, taxes are payment for societies many benefits which get bigger and better as people get richer. The rich get far more that us,far more.
And a final finally...the Bush tax cuts were passd under the assumption that giving the wealthy a tax break would create jobs. WHERE ARE THE JOBS? |

heard on the news last nite that consumer spending stayed flat in the most recent analysis - but that saving was up. do ya think consumers are adopting the same business practices of saving instead of spending; and maybe because of a fear of the future? |

for nj....tax cuts came long before Affordable Healthcare act, look it up. and for Rags wrong answer, sorry. Not surprised by responses to my 2 posts, facts are difficult to repudiate.

Your response doesn't really answer the question and address the reality that tax cuts were implemented in 2001 and 2003 (during the Bush administration) and that during that administration (through 2008) only 118,000 net private sectors jobs were created. That's anywhere from seven to five years for tax cuts to result in job creation and it didn't happen.
